    Great job on the deer tonight guys. I can't wait for my sit tomorrow. My first ever public land hang and hunt. Will be looking for a doe and of course a monster freak swamp donkey.

    A couple years ago I bought a thermal imager to help me find deer because I'm colorblind.

    I keep it in the truck when I'm hunting (it's illegal to have while hunting) and I carry it on all track jobs.

    If I'm alone I can walk the direction the deer went and if it dies quickly I can just scan for the heat signature.

    It was a great thing to have tonight because my brother couldn't find blood. I just walked into the woods where I knew she went in and followed the path of least resistance, all the time scanning with the thermal imager. I spotted the heat signature from her within 4 minutes of walking into the woods.

    Without it we might not have found her. She had died in a hole in a briar thicket. Would've been tough to find her without that FLIR.

    I'll add that to can't believe my brother couldn't find blood.

    The doe was quartering to me pretty hard. The shot was less than stellar but good.

    The entry was just to the right of the spine. There was an exit high on the back of the stomach. Then the arrow went through the hindquarter, breaking her right hind leg. That's why I didn't get a pass through.

    With all of those holes in her hide why couldn't we find blood? It was a brand new Slick Trick, scary sharp and babied from the time I screwed it on.

    Never did find my arrow. I'm sure it's broken anyway but I may look for it when I get down tomorrow.

    Yeah, the doe is skinned, quartered and on ice, my clothes are in the wash and I'll be back in stand tomorrow morning.
