My gear is in the washer right now.

I'll be heading back to Kentucky tomorrow for round two hoping this new moon along with all of the corn being picked will change things up.

I'll be back in a tree tomorrow afternoon.

    Been wondering something.

I really don't do early season hunts like I used to. Rut hunting is where it's at on the property I hunt as far as antlers go, does are dime a dozen if I keep hunting after I kill a buck, usually but not always, but I know if I put in the time for a doe after the rut I can do it.

    Anyway, early season.

If you can find a good acorn drop, is it worth it to sit all day? Lately I've seen deer in the beans mid-day. Urban deer, most likely unhuntable, but feeding none the less.

Deer aren't on set schedules like us for meals, so have to think if you can get in on a good acorn drop on the ground sitting all day may be beneficial for a kill, not necessarily a buck but who knows.

Just wondering if I get an early hunt in, should I(or anyone else) consider sitting all day if acorns are still dropping or plentiful on the ground?

I’ll be doing some early season all day sits. I have a couple buck moving during daylight hours mid morning. Acorns are everywhere. I think the other key is to have multiple spots so you don’t burn out your spot like I usually do.

I have two acorn stands for the most part. Never hunted one until the drop is done, but it seems to be the one that early season would be best.

Honestly, I didn't know where the stand was. I finally just walked until I found it

One of them stands that has been there for 15-20 years. Not the same stand per se', but same tree. Probably take 2 people to change the straps out on it(double ladder stand) but tree has to have a 5 foot diameter.

Thinking of taking my lone wolf in this year and hanging it nearby.

In my limited experience, once acorns start dropping deer leave just about everything else, even corn feeders I've used in Arkansas.

I would definitely be hunting a good acorn stand if I had one at this point.

Talking whether it's an all day sit worthy spot?

I say yes, deer will bed nearby to food sources. I like chips as a snack, but i'll also eat a steak between meals if readily available when I get hungry

Just got in the stand and not going well so far. I haven’t sat in this stand since Sunday and while I was gone it was invaded by a colony of stink bugs. There’s hundreds of them under all the arm rest cushions, a bunch in all the cracks and crevices of the seat, and even inside the metal tubing. It reaks up here and it seems like every 10 seconds one of the little ****s kamakizis me in the face. Trying to decided if it’s worth it to pull the arm and bar cushions off and drop them to the ground. That’s where 90% of the stink bugs are but there is three of them and each one is held on by a 2 foot strip of Velcro.

Saw lots of deer in the fields on my way to work this morning. I think I counted 14 at least.

Mix of small bucks and does.

They are moving this morning in my area.

Hope that translates to movement for all hunting this morning. Good Luck!

Sorry I wasn't more clear. Yesterday was a long day.

I say yes also, especially if it's a day that calls for good movement mid-day like tomorrow when the moon is overhead at noon.

Just saw a squirrel fall out of a tree and land head first on a big ol rock. He’s laying on his back and hasn’t moved in about 10 minutes so I am pretty sure he’s done for. At least I won’t be going home empty handed.

Still debating going over to Ohio this weekend for the opener there. It s a long drive by myself and I'm just not sure, although I know the acorns are falling there right now.
