Little over an hour left. Nothing but ducks feeding in the slough behind me.

A couple of coyotes came by with about 20 minutes of light left. Just close enough to ruin the end of it, not close enough to die.

48 days and just got on here to post that

I have no idea what I'm gonna do or how I'm gonna do it, but I'm going to kill a turkey.

And yes, I'll be using a shotgun and yes again, I'll be shooting it in the face.

I'm so going to look the fool eating tag soup, but that's why I entered for a 2nd permit. Learn from my mistakes.

Have to see if any are availavle OTC on March 10th, doubtful but possible if I'm early enough.

Have a feeling I'll make that many mistakes lol

An unfortunate end to the saga. You can see the marks on the shoulder from the slick trick. Pretty sure the coyotes took him down recently. I had found a kill site a month ago 50 yards from where I found him today. 20200307_133545.jpeg 20200307_135714.jpeg 20200307_135841.jpeg

Yeah. Pretty heart breaking. It wasnt a lethal shot, but it probably weakened him enough for the coyotes to take him down. Makes me feel like crap.

I guess it helps to get a little closure. I had it happen to me. Shot the buck in the shoulder and he survived for 2 months. Found him dead in his bed later, still had alot of meat on him. The hole in his shoulder bone started to heal over, I keep the shoulder. It's crazy that he survived that long before infection took him out. Always felt bad for that deer. Found him only 75 yards from where I shot him.

How far was his body from were you shot him?

Measured it with onx and it was about 450 yards. Yeah it helps to know the outcome a bit. He also bred a lot of does and there are 2 up and comers and one other stud that could be his off spring around here. Nowhere near his caliber. I have his sheds from 2 years ago and he definitely jumped from then. Btw he scored roughly 187.

Wow! What a beast of a buck. Sucks that it all went down like for you. Wish the out come would have came out different for and you were able to find him after the shot. I remember that day you shot him and it sounded like a dead deer that day. Just never know how much will power these bucks have.
