I skipped this morning but have been on the stand since 2.15pm. Wind picked up, was a little gusty but has now changed directions and layed down to my benefit. Might take a doe tonight, might take a button buck since it counts as a doe in Oklahoma. I'm going to say "chili" out loud to stop him..

I didn't see anything this afternoon

I'll go back to the same spot in the morning. Something has to be traveling that creek in the thicket.

I had 12 does and 3 little scrub bucks in front of me from sunset to last light. Couldn't get the one I want to take out to turn broadside. I have too many does and dont care for hunting over a food plot after being in the woods the last month and a half. Anyway, sure I will let one fly this week, need to top off the freezer.

    Rethinking this a bit.

Not sure what having the cams out late January to late March/April is going to tell me.

Thinking it may be better just to put them out during Spring turkey and leave them out through the season.

I've seen two bucks so far this morning.

The first was just at first light. I never could get him in my binoculars so I couldn't tell how big he was. He was out of range anyway.

The second was a tall, narrow, heavy-horned six point that I probably would have shot if he had gotten within bow range. He never got closer than 60 yards.

When this sit is finished I should move my stand about 80 yards southwest across the creek for this afternoon and tomortow morning. If they follow the same paths they will both be in range.

About 30 minutes ago a group of five does came through about the same distance as the bucks.

I was watching them and caught movement behind them. It was a big, wide 10 point, the biggest buck I've ever seen here. I had to watch them walk by out of range.

I definitely need to make a move this afternoon for tomorrow morning.

    Thanks.

The only thing I'm not sure about is the move. The wind is out of the NE this morning and the deer are moving to the west of me.

Tomorrow morning the wind is supposed to be out of the NW.

I wonder what that will do to their travel pattern.

I guess it's a good idea to move since the wind will stil be out of a northerly direction and more in my favor.

I got the stand moved to a good spot but the wind is wrong this afternoon so I'll be staying at the cabin during the pm window.

The wind is supposed to be perfect in the morning so we'll see.

Decided to slip back into the woods a little. I’m about 150 yards back and down wind of the inside corner. I’m hoping the bucks are bedded to my north and will meander this way before making their way onto the field. There was a bunch of acorns in here in the fall and there is some buck sign in the area.

    good luck guys.
