Winter will not be making a showing before season ends on the 19th. Going to yank the plow off when I get home tonight so I can load the 4 wheeler in the truck.

Sunday is not looking promising. 30mph winds switching from South to Northwest throughout the morning.

I just can't catch a break with these winds

Change of plans, work posted the OT schedule and much to my surprise I was not on it. Don't really understand it, especially after speaking with the production coordinator Monday, but I'll take it.

Sunday is out, tomorrow is on amd Saturday remains a reluctant option.

Only problem I have is figuring out where the heck to hunt. I don't know if the power co.pany is still in the area or if they have moved on. Northwest wind is manageable for 2 stands, one I sat last time and the one I moved to afterwards.

I don't know what to do........

Clothes in the washer. Next 9 dsys sunrise is the same time, 7:22

If there's anything nice about late season at least sunrises are later again. Don't have to get up at 3am or earlier.

not a single deer anywhere by the corn tonight. i'm going to give it a rest tomorrow night. i either need snow or cold temps to drive the deer to the corn. so tomorrow i'm going to try the acorns.

Ok, so try something different. I can't seem to make the right choices lately and I have no idea where to hunt tomorrow morning.

So I'll let the majority decide, a, b or c.

    A. I have kinda sat a couple times this year, none of which were ideal or planned hunts. Aside from that I haven't hunted it for a few years. Used to be good until the growth under the highlines took over. Thick cover so limited shot opps. They also took out the highlines so that whole northern line has seen human activity, no clue if they are done. Wind is best for here.

    B. Is where I killed my buck this year. Early on I was seeing and passing a lot of deer until the hunting pressure started then they were tought to come by. Last sit, as noted in here there was heavy equipment activity along the highlines as the infrastucture is/was being removed. Deer come from the opposite property when they travel through here. Wind is not optimal but not bad either.

    C. Furthest away from any activity in relation to the highlines being taken down. Deer sighting here can be excellent to poor, still do not know when it is best. Killed my 2016 bucks from this stand. Wind is poor for this stand in my experience, but never sat it late season either.

What says the majority? Wind will be NW 7 to 9 mph. Top of image is north and highlije runs the clearing on the northern property lines, can see the clearing of the easement.

I normally like to sit with a good wing but the C spot sounds good to me cause of less human activity.

I'm with you on the wind! It has been rough the last few times I've been able to hunt!

I was actually studying your map while drinking coffee before I was rudely interrupted by my boss this morning. He really gets on my nerves. Always telling me what needs done and what I need to do. He should try worrying about himself! Haha but honestly I bet the deer aren’t phases anymore by the utility’s. They may even have a little curiosity

Spent my lunch break tearing down my set and moving it about 20 yards. Very quiet hardly any wind. I’m going to try and get out this afternoon if work allows it.

    I called it at 10:00.

About 7:40 had my first sighting, small doe with an adult doe, of course they were downwind. They were getting some scent but not enough to spook, actually started coming in, but they were searching with their eyes to help confirm their nose. Then a small basket 6 came in to them, wasn't harassing them or showing interest. They eventually caved to their nose and went back the other way.

Just before 9 heard a blow followed by a second on the ridge behind me, then some crashing so I stood up to get ready just in case. Seen them at the top of the ridge cross over and got to backside of the pond. One of the other hunters was up there, guessing he got busted or walked up on them when he was leaving.

Not sauat after that. Passed all them deer early on waiting on a buck. Finally get a buck and now I can't het a deer im front of me to save my life.

The buck beard comes off tonight. Not sure when I'll be back out yet, hoping the winds changes tomorrow/Sunday and next weekend is supposed to be rain.

Following weekend is last chance before it closes until October 1st.
