Got a question. Taking a buddy out to my property tomorrow to try and get him his first buck. Is it to late in the season to rattle or grunt?

    I'm with ya.
I walked for 2 3/4 miles. Got across the creek and didn't find any "good" sign. Finally got back across the creek and was soaked.
Headed to the in-laws for plan B. Neighbors were helping in-laws get garage cleaned up.
I'm now back at our farm in a stand with a good wind. Plan C.
We'll see if anything is moving. Good sign and I think a few bucks made past the mf'ers that killed a few bucks, illegally, over bait this past gun season. It was too late once we figured out how they were killed.

    Good Luck, PM shift!

    • Holy moly! It was a tad weathery out there tonight. Wind shifted a few times had a freezing fog add itself to the snow. I looked like a snowman when I came home. Saw nothing until I slung my bow and turned to climb down. Then spotted the deer sneaking out of nieghbors at the road and walking down our drive to the house...LOL!!
    • Hope to get out in a.m. BUT back went out again tonight, taking off boots. On a heating pad right now and asprin.

Well it's my own fault. Swore I'd sign up and didn't.

I'll be out checking some cams in the morning, then formulating a game plan from there. Gun is over Sunday, so I'll hit it hard again after that.

I've tried and no response. At least in New England it's all about food now.

I'll be out this AM but with the Muzzy. 3-4" of fresh tracking snow. My oldest son and I are going to go find them. Buck or Doe on the menu. Will hopefully take a buck or doe this weekend with the Muzzy and then the next 7 days with the bow, where I can also take a buck and a doe. Good luck everyone.

Crazy thing spotted this morning. Driving to the woods, I see and a buck in a ditch. Not moving. I turn the truck around, curious. His head moves and I pass again. I return and stop. He takes off, but he was laying down with a dead doe in the ditch. 'lock down'?

BTW, out with the rifle this am. 32 degrees, damp (and quiet) as some earlier frost has melted.

Jumped a rabbit and a mourning dove on the way in. The dove startled the crap out of me.

Sitting in pines near a travel route and for bedding.

Morning everybody! Headed for the stand, will check in later. 30 degrees, almost no wind, and a light frost on the ground. I’m gonna have to really take my time and sneak in this morning. Good luck folks!

Had somebody's dogs run 4 doe by me, and would ya know. Misfire. Just dimpled the primer. 15 minutes later, I move to set my pistol on my backpack, in case it happens again... I moved and spoke a buck at 40yds.

    Not a good start. [IMG]
