Live from I95 stand still traffic. All was well until the brake lights turned off and I saw this! Adrenaline for the final 30 minutes.

    Lol

Well I’m absolutely horrible at being live from the stand, I know it and so should everyone else. I made it out tonight for what was my best hunt for seeing deer and what was ultimately my last hunt of the 2019 season. I know it’s not for everyone but I am starting to believe more and more in the “Red Moon” sunset where I am was at 5:18 tonight, by 4:45 I had seen 18 does and fawns that we’re all in range at one point or another. I was drawn back on a behemoth of a doe 3 times and every time I stopped her she quartered to me hard. At 5:00 the big group of deer had moved down the field, when I turned around to scan the woods I had another group of 7 does, fawns, and 2 small bucks at 40 yards and closing fast. They made it to the edge of the field I picked the biggest doe of the group and cut one loose for a perfect 23 yard quartering away shot. She ran about 40 yards and took her last breath. It was an absolute amazing hunt to end the year on. I am now ready for October 1st 2020, minus the slammer of a 2.5 year old dead head that I found walking to the stand!

    Glad you made it.
I'll be back out Thursday. Hockey practice and work have me tied up Monday-Wednesday.

I ended not seeing anything after spooking a couple walking in. Winds were really gusty all afternoon. I thought maybe I was going to get a chance when a bluejay started going crazy with about 20 minutes of light left. Unfortunately, nothing came out of the tree line before dark. I will say it was a pleasure to finally meet another forum member in person and hunt with him. Thanks for the invite @LittleChief.

If you haven’t met him in person, Johnnie is a great guy. When we got back to our vehicles, I thought I had lost my rangefinder on the walk out. He gave me an old back up rangefinder. I ended up finding mine on the ground by the tire of my jeep. I tried giving back his rangefinder and he wouldn’t take it back. Told me to keep it. Good luck the rest of the week while you are in Arkansas Chief!

    FIFY,

And I concur. 2 slammers on the ground, a doe on the last day, plus got to share a great kill with your old man? That's more than anyone could hope for.

It was great meeting you also Adam.

It's too bad the conditions were so tough. I was really hoping that you would connect.

Like I said, keep this place in mind for some late season hunting.
