Just read all 53 pages to get caught up. Thanks for getting me motivated fellas. Been working a lot of hours this year and finding it difficult to get the energy to go out.

I know if I were a buck and it was as hot as its been then I would be laying in the shade all day and doing all my moving at night when its cool. I bet things will change once this cold front comes through.

Damn, look at the neck on that beast. If you take a shot on him you better hope he runs towards your truck because it is going to be hell and a half trying to drag that stud out of the woods.

I let him walk. He was within 20yds for 1hr and 20min. Very cool. Guess I know my scent reduction efforts are working as he was downwind of me for part of the time, as well as my camo patterns and my ability to sit still enough. Just a blast having deer that close without them knowing

Man, with a neck and body like that in September, that looks like a mature buck to me that just won't ever do much in the antler department. I would be tempted to shoot him. But, I didn't kill anything with a bow last year and I have never killed a six point. I also live in a two buck state. I can understand passing him if you only get one buck tag.

I just had a surprise visit from a Missouri Department of Conservation Officer. I checked the doe I killed yesterday on one of my free landowner archery "any deer" tags. MDC didn't recognize my name as a local landowner because I'm pretty new here so he came to check it out.

He was a nice young man and was very polite and professional. He asked me to take him to where I shot the deer, so I walked him over to my plot and showed him my climber on the tree. He asked where the deer came from so I explained how the encounter played out. While we were there he noticed some red paint on a tree right at my property boundary. I told him that I thought my neighbor Alex owned that section but I wasn't sure.

Then we walked back to his truck and pulled out a plat book and said that the small tract of woods that is on the east border is actually owned by a company that allows public use of their land for hunting.

This is awesome because the vast majority of deer traffic over on that side of the road goes through that patch of woods. :tu:

You better kill one for me. A lot people better kill on Friday if they are out. I may try to go Saturday. The high is 84 up from 77 Friday but that is better than the six weeks of 95+ we have had.
