Exactly. I don't participate in this thread for the "likes", or "congrats" (I don't kill anything anyway lol!). I do it for the camaraderie. I am truly happy for everyone's success and consider this my deer camp as well. I live vicariously through you all with your updates, highs, and lows of bowhunting. I am not on a high horse.

Sorry for the disruption back to hunting now.

I wish everyone the best of luck for the remainder of the season!

I have that same problem. Honey roasted peanuts and cashews are my trick. I dump more salt on them so I will naturally want to consume more water. Throw some good jerky in the mix and I'm downing water like it's my job.

It funny and you will get this because your a roofer. I get it the worst when I'm working on a roof. The reason I don't drink because I don't want to get off the roof every 30 minutes to go to the bathroom! Lol

Well that and it's generally hotter up on the roof! My nordic blood makes me sweat out any and all moisture when up there. I dont have to worry about pissing when I'm sweating it all out!

Heading out around 10am to sit the rest of the day. Cold front is supposed to move through around noon and the wind will transition to a north wind that I need to sit on a certain stand that the big boy has been frequenting. So, here's hoping.

Well there's the wind shift. All I've seen so far is one fat squirrel. Very quiet out here and I haven't even heard anything in the distance that would indicate rut activity. In the past this spot was on fire this time of year.

    Still alive....

We tracked for way over 1,000 yards... blood the whole way

    IMG_5068.JPG

    IMG_5069.JPG

It was spraying... had to be a single lung ....

    Then we found this....

    IMG_5070.JPG

I immediately thought, here we go!!! The blood continued but it was now only in his tracks... no more spray ... found a few beds before ... we trailed and trailed... blood got scant ... his track was HUGE .... we followed it and found more blood ... then we found the last bed .... not much blood in it at all ... I knew what that meant .... we grid searched the rest of the woods and then tried to do the same in the head high field... kicked up a bunch of doe... no buck ... at be never seen anything like this ... he has to be alive.... as long as he doesn’t get an infection, he will make it, right???

On the positive side, the owner and I hit it off like we were life long friends... so much in common... we walked back to my sons place and I drove him home, giving him a few homemade pies for him and his family... he refused the money I offered, but accepted a dinner invitation after corn harvest is over ....incredible human being ....
