Well after the last few sits I realize I have a doe problem. Seen one dinky buck tonight. He musta fancy the fellas cause he had a field full of doe and he wasn't the least bit interested.

Just found out my BIL shot his first deer ever tonight! It was with a rifle, but I got him started hunting 2 years ago with a crossbow and rifle...and this is his first. Incredibly happy for his family- they love venison and now I dont have to provide it. The best part is, my sister was sitting with him and I'm getting her into hunting! She took hunter safetythis year at age 48! 33736.jpeg 33736.jpeg

Congrats Mike! That's a cool looking buck. :tu:

I only saw one big doe and her yearling at 4:40PM, which was good size as well, These deer, as few as they are, seem to be eating well. I also heard a couple deer running as I was descending my tree. At least they didn't blow.

I'm calling it. The rut in NJ is over. It occurred from October 25 to November 11 and then shut down. With those many Does(40+)out in the cut corn today, with 45min to an hour of daylight left, there should have been a buck or two chasing some Does around, but nothing. The deer are all back on their September like feeding patterns. I dont know about the rest of the country but that's how it is here.

just decided- gonna hit MI next weekend for at least 2 days. It'll be rifle season still but I may take the xbow to split the difference. None of my deer guns are sighted in anyway. Maybe the .44 carbine...

I was gonna say, with that many does, your bucks probably all have one and don’t have to search for a replacement.
Over here, we never see that many in one place anymore.

12-pack is still alive, no daylight pics this week, but he is alive, I am relieved, that is the only good thing I can say about today. I really need to get a handle on my migraines, they are making life miserable.
