Wow cold out there. Didn't I forget to put fleece over my base shirt! 1 shirt , safety vest, coat and orange vest. . ENE breeze and crunchy walk to ole faithful. Get settled and 10 mins to open I see a buck walk out from tower blind 150 yrds away. Lol grunted and doe bleat but he went to nieghbors swamp.
5 mins later the nephew shows up on other side of fence. He sees the fresh tracks and starts a still hunt.
This makes me laugh! I watched him from 7 till 9. All the land is lower than us and my stand is 18 ft.. I can see everything. He gets on the ENE side of bedding and starts his slow stalk following the bucks tracks. Remember my mention of wind direction. Give him credit for starting slow..but early on I could see the deer sneaking away and in the opposite direction..lol. He gets to another nieghbors line takes off his orange hat pulls the hood up on his snow camo suit then goes on his land. The guy hunts , thats a shooting waiting to happen . He's not allowed there because....one member of their hunting party shot and killed another some years ago. Some NEVER learn.
Well he gave me a free deer drive, just drove them the wrong way..fun morning and no more than 20 shots heard. Maybe 10 close.

It is dead as fried chicken over here aside from my button headed, lazy ass woods mate over here. He got up, browsed around , then piled back up in bed. Not a great pic but he's there. 20191116_082956.jpeg

Very confused. Found private (purple paint trees) in the middle of this public land. Will need to call the gw later to ask.

There’s a big chunk of public here that does have a few small pieces of private in it

This frigging wind isn't messing you up at all? It's why I'm not in the woods as we speak.

Alright time to stick to the plan, tear down, grab camera and relocate to the other side of the lot. Cant wait to see this lil buck's reaction when he notices me.

Hmm...dad is out here and hasn’t answered my text in a little over an hour. I sent a few just in case he didn’t feel his phone vibrate.

I'm about to still hunt back to the truck, see if the others have left. They generally head up by 9:30 buy have not heard vehicles leave. Starting to wonder if his kid didn't get cold and they left earlier. Could explain the blowing deer this morning.

If still here, probably calling it a rutcation and heading home

It’s keeping me cold that’s for sure, thought it would mess them up but I guess not

The guy who basically taught me everything about bow hunting just hit the biggest UP deer he's ever seen. Said he mule kicked...trailed decent blood for 75 yards and backed out.

Really hoping for a good outcome there. He's just one of those guys that I'd be a very different hunter and also probably a pretty different person without.

The blood petered out and he had to help one of his hunting partners find another deer. He's going in to grab lunch and he said he'll look later
