Well considering, that is awesome to see. The snort wheeze makes the hair on my neck stand up. Very cool. Shake off that shot. I put a bad one on a doe today. Wish I would have clean missed like you but unfortunately I fed the coyotes. She was a big ol fat nanny too.

Mine better be able to haul more than a deer....

Up to a week of gear into the back country of CO; one or more AT trips a year; elk; moose; deer; deer hunting gear...still to haul: bear, goat; TBD...

    Off season, training weight.

The Horn Hunter was convenient as I had a lot of Amazon credit.

I dont remeber what size he said it was- probably smaller than those requirements haha but I have heard nothing but good things about what they can stand up to- no experience with it myself though so feel free to ignore me!

Yeah I was just catching up on the thread and read that. That sucks man! I had a year like that last year and it's tough. Best thing to do is try and move past it and jump back in the saddle. I went out last year in the spring to try and find my doe. I finally found her skeleton. I was still 100 plus yards from her that night.

Misses happen, but you experienced the true essence of the rut! That's the kind of evening in the deer woods I dream about.

You know it! The miss was already forgotten and what I got to see after, I will always remember. I had a amazing night in the stand!

I have heard a buck snort weezed before. But the growl sound was the strangest thing I ever heard. It was a very deep tone and from his stomach. Almost like a big dog doing a deep growl right before he barks. The growl sound he would do it for about 10 seconds then stop. I think he did it about 3 times.

Already licking the wounds and coming up with my game plan to get back in the woods. Headed to bow shop as soon as they open tomorrow to get new quiver and couple arrows. I’ve got a few arrows and broadheads in the garage. I’ll spend the rest of the day just shooting and practicing to get a little confidence back. I’ll hit it as hard as I possibly can Friday morning through Sunday morning.

Just checked the weather again and the wind looks good for my set up tomorrow morning. Supposed to be a high of 34 and south wind all day. Just not sure if I want to get in real early or take my time and get in a little later once snow starts to melt. More than likely it will be early. Cmon big 10 but any others might get the opportunity to get shot also. Times running out.

I find the longer I can watch a deer that I want to kill, the more at ease with the situation it makes me. I get "used to" seeing the deer and it seems to (usually) help me make better decisions.

I'll be hitting the woods tomorrow (10:30-dark), and I'm going to have real good conditions. Partly/mostly cloudy, SSW breeze @ 8mph with 43F high temp. That's almost perfect, can't wait. Doe tag used and meat in the freezer, now it's buck only. I'm looking forward to having just one target for the rest of the season!

I have my eye on an exo. My three boys will be out of the house before I can afford it with it costs to feed them. So in 16 years, when the toddler graduates from high school?
