Had a pretty good night tonight not as well as pastor Jim, but I climbed in about 2 pm and saw a deer bedded about 80+ yards away. It just sat there chewing it's cud. I didn't see a buck standing around or bedded also. It looked exhausted. At one point it put it's head down and I thought it was dead or about to die. But I didn't see any blood in or around it. Then a saw a fawn walking towards it picked up but the fawn didn't go towards it. Huh then I seen a large body deer walk about 30 yards behind it in some thick stuff. It didn't budge. Shortly it stood up and above the only leaf in my way and I saw a antler about 6 inches tall on one side and nothing else. It stretched and walked away towards that bigger deer.

I had a large fawn come in or a small yearling come into 23/24 yards choose to pass.

    Good night.

hunt for your own happiness, not this or any other internet friends.
By the looks of your pic, you're pretty happy. You don't need our affirmation; but you have mine- that's a nice buck.

well i saw 13 doe and 5 bucks today. nothing worth shooting. then about 430 i have two young guys come walking into my spot wearing blue jeans and carhartt jackets. seemed awfully strange. one of those moments when you wish you had a pistol in your bag kind of moments. i'm guessing they were coming to steal my stand. remind you i am now 2 miles from the spot i had my stand taken yesterday. i whistled at them and they couldn't get out of there fast enough. they open the gates for hunters instead they are letting all of the thieves in. shut the gates and make people walk like real hunters. try again tomorrow. not holding my breath since all of the big bucks are locked down now.

the corkscrew effect was either you torqued the crap out of your shot or yes, the string made contact with clothing. Had it happen a couple years back- the arrow literally corkscrewed right over the back of a buck.

Confession time guys. I missed a buck tonight at 22 yards. Perfect broadside shot, I stopped him and just as I released, I flinched bad and pulled the shot. Complete miss. He walked out 30 yards and stood there watching his doe. I could have easily shot him a hundred times, but I gave him the win. I was to dejected to shoot again. It was cool to watch him with the doe. He was making every sound a buck makes. He was growling, grunting and another buck came in and he snort weezed, at him 5 times. Cool experience, but he live to see another day. He stayed under me well past dark, I finally just had to get down and spook them.
