Yea I’m laughing it off right now. Especially since we are driving home and there are more deer out and on there feet than I’ve seen in a long time. We’ve seen 5 shooters 2 of them were absolute beasts and probably 200 more deer out in fields. Guess they are hungry after that cold snap.

When it rains, it pours. That's a real kick in the sack though! Sometimes you have to laugh to keep from crying.

That's exactly why I'm waiting until about 10:00 or 11:00 to go in tomorrow, when the leaves will have thawed. I could go in real early, but I'm not willing to make that kind of noise. I truly believe getting in quietly is the most important aspect of the hunt.

In the early morning when the air is cold, the winds calm, and when the leaves are crunchy, every deer within 150 yrds would hear me entering my woods. I'd rather lose a little stand time than disrupt the tranquility of my area.

Just got out of the woods. That stand I hunted tonight is in a big holler. Signal was non existent! Saw nine. 2 small bucks and seven does. Does were all on the small size. Didn't want to shoot anything that was close. My arthritis in my hands and shoulders are screaming at me once they warmed up. Time for a bourbon and a tramadol to take the pain away. Be back after it tomorrow...

That's about the only conclusion I've come up with racking my brain all afternoon. When he stepped into clearing and did his thing before shot the front leg, call it right side, was forward. There's really no way it wasn't. He couldn't have reached back with head on right side without it being back. Everything points to the arrow hitting right side and clipping some type of bone and stopping most likely leg or shoulder. That would account for the limping and dragging that right leg. Apparently arrow also must have either been lower than thought or somerhing. Otherwise something vital would have been hit would think.

Saw a bunch of does tonight and one little buck in tow. Nothing close. Fun from start to finish.

What I learned today..plot I'm hunting over looks like a cattle yard. Just no movement anytime I'm there all good winds. My woods looks like a California road map. My two big main plots...two tracks main woodland plots 2 tracks. My two ole reliable stands covered in tracks and the same on gully stands, yet no deer on cams.
The cold got me today. LEG CRAMPS....
