Okay guys. Need some advice quick.

I just botched a shot on a doe. Had her broadside facing left at 25 yards. The shot flew high right and spined her.

Before I could get another arrow nocked she had crawled behind thick cover. She managed to get back in her feet and staggered to the valley bottom about 60 yards away.

Pretty sure she's still down there. Do I wait and see if she expires or do I get down and risk her getting back on her feet and running off?

Can you move in a little closer and get a better look at her?

I'd give her a little bit, Chief.
Might see if there is much blood if you can check that without bumping her.

I could try but I'm in a pine tree and she's close. I'd bet she runs if she can when I start climbing down.

My guess is you pinned her shoulder joint rather than spined. Did that to a button buck once off a deflection, I did not recover and I tracked it a good quarter mile before things opened up and no blood to go on.

If you are close enough to be seen, I would probably stay put. But at the same time it might be good to get a visual before it gets dark, to see how she is reacting. If it's above the spine it may not be lethal. May require a follow up shot.

Been up about an hour marinating in my own sweat. Cooling down and getting to that time.

Good luck on the recovery Chief.
