I wasn't there so can't say how the roads are; but my Expedition is the second best snow beast I ever owned behind a couple Jeep Cherokee Classics. Sucker just chews it up like nothing. Snow-rated ATs help obviously.

Didnt see crap tonight and it was a cold b!tch. My fingers didnt want to work climbing down and they had that pain only cold can exert on you and it only took 30 seconds. Man I gotta wait till saturday to get out again and hunting only weekends makes it so much harder to kill a target deer during the rut. Bah. Whatever, today was awesome. I gave a maniacal laugh to the wind and snow earlier today and was having a great time. Dang I love doing this. I had a doe so close to me this morning on the ground I could've taken a step and slapped her flank. That never happens. Unreal day with bucks and does super close on several occasions, including a 5 yard stare down with a forkie that never spooked. Just walked away. Amazing animals.

Couple guys hunting the morning. Going to give it until Thursday.

I've got to change it up somehow to put me in the advantage.

You guys see anything SE of the yellow line that screams out? That bottom X I marked Friday while in stand is the deepest stand to my knowledge. That whole SE corner is unpressured.

The creeks if not dry are pretty shallow, should I just walk them and find a good crossing and post up hooing for the best?

Leaf litter is going to be deep and no cut trails for 4 wheelers like the rest of the property.

Blue line is walk in entry, could take 4 wheeler 3/4 back to last stand marked.

Holy ****, it's cold. Everytime I tried to get off the stand something else would come through so I waited it out until I had enough of the cold blaster. Definite change in mood with the deer behavior tonight. Walking in to the stand earlier, I caught a white flash of tail out in a little bluestem pasture and see a doe looking back into the woods. A couple minutes go by and when she looks away and begins to walk a nice buck walks out behind her. He wasn't really chasing but he had come ah courtin'. They walk off into a sumac patch and out of sight and I doubled up the pace to the stand. Wait fifteen minutes and nothing so I check in on LFTS and finish one sentence when a doe comes into the field being chased by a decent 8. After that it was a steady stream of the younger bucks a few does and fawns. What a difference a day makes and a 40° drop in temps in less than 12 hours.

Terrible shot on my buck. Friends of mine said the arrow looks like a meat shot. We searched the area for hours. But the heavy snow covered everything up... not a very good day for me.. I just wanna hang it up for the season but friends are telling me not to but this is my second lost deer this year.... idk guys not feeling very good about it. I wanna go back out tomorrow after work and search but we are getting 4-5” tonight. So everything will be covered up including him... idk what to do. Sorry guys no victory here

Mike, these things happen. It isn't a lot of fun but we have all been there. The only way you can get better and overcome this type of thing is to get back after it. Chin up man.

IMG_1288.JPG this is the arrow. I almost feel like maybe I have trigger panic or something. I see the deer I’m fine grab my bow and draw... I’m fine... stop the deer.... I’m fine. After that, can’t remember anything until the deer is running away. It just goes blank.

That’s a bummer Mike. But as stated above chin up and get back at it. Most on here including myself have been in your shoes and it sucks. Keep at it. Has for the arrow blood looks a little thin and watery maybe? What color is the hair on the ground?

Where was your pin last remembered, and what andgle was deer? Being it is lodged in the ground at an angle guessing that was a pass through and not using arrow to mark blood.

For a meat hit that is a lot of blood on the arrow and on the ground. Generally in my experience it takes a few leaps for an all meat hit to have blood on the ground.

I don't know anything about the shot though.

Maybe time to invest in a camera mounted to bow or head mount to assist in visual aide?

Not sure how to tell you how to get over buck fever without knowing the root issue. Do you have the same issue with does?

Looks like brown hair on the ground as well, doesn't look to be overly low and/or forward.
