This is the walnut tree that I shot that buck from, it leans too much to hunt from now, after the tornado. It's ironic, because I was going back in there last Sat, the day this trail cam pic was taken, but storm damage kept me out. This buck is 20yrds from from my tree.

Still haven't made it through today's post. I'll ppst my hunt and then catch up.

    Dog tired Boss...

So woke up about midnight with a message from.one of the other guys who hunts wanting to know if I was hunting today. Went ahead and answered him back then rather than wait amd which stand I was planning to hunt. Got a text on the way there saying sounds good, one of the ither guys will be in the stand I sat yesterday amd another in the box blind about 65yds upwind from me. Nov. 8th not sweating it a bit.

Get to the property and a 3rd is going to sit atop a ridge and see what happens. The other two only sitting the morning.

Get in stand sweating my arse off, unzip and try to fight my way out og my cold gear to no avail. Finally cool down and sunrise comes and goes. Not a single sighting the first hour, odd for this stand. Figure two hunters within 65yds probably a lot of scent wafting around. I'll wait for the cruisers.

Finally about 8am I hear something coming down the small rose in front of me, see legs and hit the tactacam. Out steps a doe with legs behind her, out steps another fawn. Figured it would be the same yearling doe and scarface button from last Friday. Punctual, I'd give them that, but it was a fawn doe. Yearling doe gives me the old broadside, betting she was the ssme one, then more steps coming and out comes a forky and starts chasing them. Tactacam didn't get much when I slung it up to catch the chase.

Then about 5 minutes later I look downwind and there's a cruiser nose down crossing where I have earlier talked of parking my 4 wheeler to deter them from crossing. Dark rack and sweeping beams so I grunt. Stops and head snaps up looking my way, definite shooter for me, but without any binos or whatnit I could not tell if he was a wide 6, 8 or 10. Was about 65-70 yds away and blended in with the background. He starts to walk again amd I grunt again, this time like a kazoo, and he stops again. Then precedes to disappear.

About 5 minutes later, still looking for that buck, a doe appears and starts walking to me. Downwind she stops and starts heavy stepping, yearling doe, figure it's the one the forky chased. She walks back and a few seconds later here comes a mature doe, thought it was a spike at first. Given there were 4 hunters, I would take a shot if given the opportunity. She does the same thing as her counterpart and they disappear to the opposite side of the lane as the buck.

3 minutes after that, I catch a glimpse to my left, upwind but downwind of the other hunter, has antlers so again hit tactacam and wait. He comes out and is a goofy racked 3 or 4 point on one side and a bladed arced spike on the other. Picture is phone shot from tactacam off computer. 20191108_191506.jpg

He walks past perfectly scripted and hits a scrape downwind. Try to video with my phone and it has frozen up, just small vibrate when I try to wake it up. Did it before last year or yesr before so it stays in inside pocket if that is what cold does to it. He's still at scrape when I look back upwind getting excoted for movement, 7 deer within 20 minutes, it's on. Then I hear commotion back downwind and that little buck jumps in the woods amd takes off. Waiting for that big buck to step out now.

Nope, its the hunter hunting thw stand I was in yesterday. Asks if I've seen anything and I tell him 7, he says he saw a 6 point. I tell him one of the bucks I seen jumoed in the woods and was still up in the trees I think. He then asks if he can get him now or wait. Huh? He said the 6 point he shot. I thought he said saw one.

Anyhow I tell him to go ahead amd get him, don't worry about ruining my day its the rut. So he walks over to the boxblind with the other guy. A fewminutes later another forky comes out from straight ahead and turns towards the box blind.

    20191108_191617.jpg

    That was about 8:35am.

About an hour later they come down with the 4 wheeler and head to get his buck. They come back half hour later, has a browless 8 point for a 6, and go to box blind again. 10 minutes later they start back up, I watch them leave with his on theback and dragging another. Not sure if box blind hunter shot the forky or if it wa another deer.

About 10:20 I see another young cruiser on same trail shooter buck was on.

Wouldn't be until 2:35 I see my next deer. About 25 yds to my left I seen legs where I was expecting to see the damned squirrels all day. Hut tactacam and get heady. Bow hits my grunt tube for a loud plastic thud and it stops. Takes a step forward and starts looking. 1 1/2 year old 8pt. He starts to come out and I try to act like I'm going to shoot him for practice and he turns around and bolts.

So an all day sit and 10 deer seen, 6 bucks and 4 doe. 2 of 4 hunters killed and I watched fully leafed out trees go bare over the span of 3 hours. It was literally raining leaves all morning, couldn't believe how loud it was.

Sorry to kepp ya waiting, phone went kaput in stand, but wouldn't have had signal anyhow.

For some reason it becomes unresponsive in the cold. Have to hook it up to a charger to jolt it back or something. Left charfger in truck since I wouldn't have signal.
