Well no blood at the area i shot him, no arrow either. Heading to the house. He was quartered pretty hard. Here’s my theories:

    • not a shoulder shot bc it was back
    • not a gut shot bc the arrow would zip through and it’d be laying there
    • not a brisket hit, bc there would be white hair and decent muscle blood
    • not a miss bc the arrow isn’t here or stuck in a tree

    so that leaves:
    • running it in through the back of the ribs and up into the chests cavity? Hope to find blood on up where he stopped. If he’s still wearing the arrow, he should be dead. It’s a Magnus black hornet so it’ll but forwards and back

It sounded like a low pitched pop. Opposite of a crack I guess

Slipped into the stand this morning like a damn ninja. I've had does, fawns and dinks. Had a buck back behind me in thick cover working a scrape or tree rub for like twenty minutes and when it finally stepped out it was just a little basket rack 8.

Shot more than a few on that angle. If you're lucky he'll pull the arrow out with his teeth. Also look head high (his head while running) b/c if you ran it up deep enough and got lung he'll start blowing blood out while he runs.

I have only used the phone for the past few years on here. Now today using the computer it's really great to see everyones signature and profile pics again. I've missed this.

I'd give the buck 3 or 4 hours. If you hit behind the ribs, or at the back of the ribs, the arrow could be lodged in shoulder or brisket. The guts may almost seal the entrance, so not much blood. Go slow ahead. Time and temp are on your side. Mark your blood with tp.

We've all been then. We're pretty certain you'll recover!

Had similar thing happen this year only instead of tornado it was DNR clear cut about 2/3 of the 240 we hunt. We've been hunting the area for over a decade so it hit us emotionally as well. All I can say is to echo what Okie said and know it's going to turn into a positive
