Yeah I remember that. Did you get it mounted with a off color eye?

Still a skull cap on the table in the basement. Can't decide if I want a donor cape from the taxidermist or use a cape from a deer I kill that won't be mounted. Have an 8 from 2013 mounted with a donor cape and while cool, he mounted it on a double throat patch cape which mine was not. Bugs me when I see it, although not enough to have it done over

Still undecided on the eye, will probably let him decide when I finally have it mounted. I think it has to be blue eyed though and would be my preference.

I understand what your saying about mounting with a replacement cape. I needed one for one of my bucks and wanted to keep it original. But now that it's done, it doesn't bother me. It took me about 6 years to get one the same size though!

Westerly winds are a nuiscance but predominant through most of the year. Be it true or a north/south with it.

That is the only limiting factor. Not good for most of the stands, but walnut stand should be OK if deer stick to the script.

Love me a wind with any east in it.

possibly...I was away hunting so don't know exactly when it went dead but I have been home for several really bad storms that had it humming almost non stop for hours.

either way, going to get a new one with battery backup and alert. Just sucks. I just found out that a bin that I thought was not submerged had been- it was full of family photos and docs going back 75+ years...including both my grandfathers' discharge papers (WWII and Korea.) I am sick. Seriously I haven't been this depressed over an event since I don't know when. My mom and dad just gave it to me in July when they moved to Florida- I put it in the basement intending to go through it all and just forgot about it.

I literally don't have the heart to tell them. Sorry to be a downer on this thread.

I could have given you the cape off the buck I killed if I'd known you needed one.

It got tossed with the rest of the scraps.

So I'm up, a turkey hunt / scout ,but I'll admit a tad ..hhhmmm uneasy. I have not hunted the 12 acres right behind the house since spring turkey. We have a lot of mature dying maple out there. Did check out most of trail to blind, a few days ago. Blind is usual roost area. I lost track of the flock last night due to local election guys knocking on door, right at dinner time. I'm assuming they headed there
Better go get a couple of decoys...gun only this morning. Then mid morning bow before the rains set in. Good luck guys..ha! I'll probably have the 12 stroll by...lol sunrise 7:46
