I am not saying I am unhappy with my buddy for doing the right thing; but I am saying the DNR's decision to not issue a salvage tag deters others from doing the right thing. But mostly my post was in affirmative response to another that had implied that the IL DNR is getting stingier with tags...like an amicus brief.

Plus, I may be wrong but I am nearly certain that a BHOD pro-staffer had an identical situation in the same county happen a couple seasons ago and was given a salvage tag. Maybe I am mis-remembering.

I know, I cannot believe the timing, another 15 seconds and he would have caught me climbing down :)

Man sorry to read and hope you heal fast. being the accident magnet I am , I feel your pain.
My eyes feeling better, itchy, was going to try and go out before the rain this morning. No way winds howling, has been all night. We had 2 different trees crash behind house last night that woke us up. I'm tree shy at the moment.
    Good luck, feel better.

well i went out yesterday after work to scout and put a stand up on the one property i just got permission on, and there was someone else parked and hunting so I decided it was probably a better move not to go busting through the woods trying to find a spot to hang a tresstand, going to get out after work tonight, supposed to rain all day so hopefully no other hunters are on this property today... kind of puts a damper on the new property but hey there are deer in the area so i will still hunt it! Going to hang the stand tonight and will get off early tomorrow night and hunt the evening! good luck out there guys!

I woke up for, and walked to, an 8 am class that got cancelled. That’s how my day is going.

Good luck out there you masterhunters...

I wonder how he is anyway?

I’m semi hunting for a job today. The Broome county labor department wants me to come in so they can help me or whatever it is they do. Wait until I tell them I’ve been working on being a professional hunter. Hopefully that will fly and they will leave me alone for another month or so. I’ll be out tomorrow morning getting more experience. BHOD

    Live from the couch!

thanks for all the well wishes, everyone.

After a round of A-TTT therapy (that's Aleve, TENS, Tigerbalm, and Templeton's) this AM I am feeling roughly 40% capacity which is a monumental turn around from the 5% I as running yesterday.

In other words, I am much better but still not operational. Taking today off and very, very easy.
Good news is I can stand up straight. Bad news is I am walking like a fresh fish in prison and can't even pick up the dog food bin.

I am still hopeful I can recover enough to hit the woods this weekend but I will be erring on the side of caution as if forced to make a call I would rather skip this weekend if that means I am near 100% starting my rutcation Nov. 4.

I mean what good is shooting a deer if I can't handle dragging it out?

Good luck everyone, the oaks are starting to turn and it is starting to feel like fall

If this is a mid to lower back thing I learned something at physical therapy. Lay completely flat on your stomach then slowly, hands at shoulder width, lift just your chest up hold a few seconds then slowly lower. Do this 3x's.

Flags and winds sock are fully horizontal and pointed E, winds were suppose to be SSE. I looked down in woods and one tree is across my trail right in front of a stand . Between stand and a trail plot. I can't see the other and I'm not going out there to check!

Saw a spike buck on the side of the 4 lane at 8:35 this morning and he was definitely in an unusual spot. I think that the little ones are starting to roam out of their comfort zones and seek a little around here. There is effin snow in the forecast next week here, so it's going to get interesting. If I'm going to hunt weather based must sits, I may have to take next Thurs. off, because I think the pre-rut will explode between then and the following week.
