Been raining cats and dogs all day. Up to 2 1/2” or so. Won’t be out until Thursday. Still looking for my first buck sighting.

I had a few bucks on their feet during midday over the last two weeks on my last card pull. Those cameras are very close to bedding areas.

Ya know, back in 2017 when I got the triple I said I'd never do it again.

I didn't, really, but the end result was the same. I got home with three big deer to process and I only have until midday Thursday to get it done because I'm leaving then for a buck hunt with my son-in-law in Windsor, MO.

It's just my luck I'm feeling under the weather also. My wife wasn't here today so I worked solo and all I got done today was all the backstraps, the tenderloins, one neck and four front legs.

The wife has jury duty selection tomorrow morning so I'll be on my own again until she gets home.

Hopefully I will feel better tomorrow.

I would swear I will never kill three deer in one trip again but I know me.

Thank you all for the congratulations,
Here’s the story, pardon me for the length

This buck came by my stand three times before giving me a shot, he came in first at about 10:00, he got within 40 yards and bedded down for about 15 minutes, once he got up I got ready to draw, but he never came any closer. Funnily enough, a squirrel jumped on my shoulder, but I was so focused on the buck I didn’t even move, so the squirrel just sat there for a second. I would have loved to have gotten a squirrel selfie!
At 10:40 he came by again, but quickly went over to investigate some does who had just entered the opposite of the field, about 300 yards away.

I waited for another 45 minutes, but there wasn’t any activity, so at 11:20 I decided to go home, I got up and stretched a bit, and decided to draw my bow on where that buck “would have been”

No sooner do I settle my pin on that “imaginary buck” when the real buck emerged from some bushes on my right and once again bedded down 40 yards away, after laying down for about 15 mins he got up and closed the distance, he was about 18-20 yards away when I shot him. He didn’t make it 40 yards before going down. This was one of my best hunts ever!

I just realized youth weekend is this weekend, no hunting for me, guess I’ll have to try and hit an afternoon sometime this week.

That was a great story and it wasn't long-winded at all.

I believe that if a squirrel had jumped into my shoulder I'd have blown it for sure.

    I'm happy for you brother!

    Congratulations again!

getting old? yeah, but not sure what I can do about that.

sticking with the theme, I messed my back up something awful this morning. As in debilitating. I think I did it picking up a couple 80# dumbells (just moving them, not actually lifting) in my basement. I didn't feel it at the time but after sitting at my table drinking coffee and cruising the internet before work, soon as I got up to go I couldn't stand up straight. Doesn't feel muscle or pinched nerve related. Maybe a compression fracture at the top of the sacrum? Tried to tough it out at work, but while sitting at a desk is OK it stiffens up something fierce and standing up after a bit is straight up murder. I had to leave early; I'm in that bad of shape. I sneezed and yelped like a kicked dog.

Currently, I got the TENS machine, Aleve, and Templetons going full strength. If I don't feel at least marginally better by morning I am going to bite the bullet and head in for x-rays...I've had about every bad traumatic injury a man can have and other than multiple busted ribs I don't think I've ever been this messed up. Fingers crossed
