    27" arrows?

Broken off portion of arrows doesn't always mean penetration of impact. Not saying that is what you implied., but some think that is a rule.

Your shot reminds me of one I had about 6-7 years ago. Had an antlerless deer come in across a drainage ditch. Stopped about 27yds away and I let one fly. Deflected and hit it in the right front shoulder. Let out a pig like grunt flopped down, then started rolling around before making it to its feet and walking off.

I heard and seen the penetration of the shot. Maybe a bit more than the broadhead, but I found about 3/4 of the shaft within POI.

Followed that trail onto the neighboring property for 350-400 yds before calling it. Mostly a spec of blood here and there but sometimes a scratch in the dirt between.

Even the young ones are tough, and their bones aren't even fully developed.

So next game plan. Show up with a buddy to hunt.

Buddy walks to your stand and sits in it while you await the ambush back at the truck.

You can fool them once, but damned hard to fool them twice.

Tonight I was hunting big woods. These deer don't put up any intrusion. So most likely he will relocate to a different area. I will probably never see him again. The deer from last night were on public, so they see people all the time. The trick may work on them!

Haven’t seen a single deer all morning but there is this huge barn owl sitting on a branch right in front of me. Eye level, 20 yds away and a clear shot. I know he sees me but he has been there 45 minutes and doesn’t really seem to care. I think owls are really cool critters, but sitting here with a bow in hand and a clear 20yd shot I can’t help but wonder what he would taste like. I really want to see him swoop down and grab a mouse or a squirrel or something.

I’d shoot a decent size doe in a heartbeat. Honestly, after spending the past 2 days sitting in the stand and not seeing a single deer, a spotted fawn could walk out and I’d just about consider letting one fly. I checked some trail cams yesterday afternoon and after that hurricane came through Thursday the deer completely changed up their patterns. I’ve got 2 cams that were reliably seeing multiple deer every day right up until the storm but since then they haven’t gotten a single deer. Another one had maybe taken photos of 10 deer in the 2 months it was out there, then the storm hit and all the sudden it got like 20 photos in 2 days. Hoping things settle back down to normal in the next few days or I might have to consider relocating some stands.

Well, I've seen four does and had two shot opportunities at 25 and 30 yards but they got a pass this morning.

I promised my brother who is a preacher here that I would go to church with him and that I would only miss it if I shot a buck.

It was difficult to pass on two shots this morning.

You watch: Tomorrow when it's game on for does they'll be a no-show.

No deer. Bad start to the season. Back at it tomorrow after work. I'd hunt today, but cant hunt Sundays in Maine.

Could someone create a meme of me being really annoyed I cant hunt today please?

That’s usually how it happens. Deer wait for the most inconvenient time to show up. Lol.

Bummer to hear about that. Keep at it though. Your time is coming. Swamp will have to make a meme for you.
