Had a pretty enjoyable sit today. Saw Four deer total, all doe. Closest one was 50 yards away, taunting me like crazy! Didn’t see any bucks moving, hoping to get out tomorrow morning and lay the smackdown on something!

Only downside was my tree stand seat was all torn up by squirrels, I’ll be making them pay in blood shortly!

Got a jacked up spike in front of me now. Came downwind of me and proceeded to keep coming. Has no clue I’m here. He gets the pass

Blood will be spilled tomorrow boys!!! I’ve got a feeling, setting the XOP up nice and early tomorrow hoping to catch a big fat doe on the way back to bedding! Good luck everyone, alarm is set for 4am, which is sleeping in compared to the last couple morning hunts!!

I’m tired of reading and not updating! Everything is so close to breaking loose everywhere it sounds like with everyone seeing more bucks even if they’re smaller. Alarms are set truck is packed and we will have 2 wheels out of the driveway at 4:00 tomorrow morning! Kill em all guys!

Great afternoon hunting with my nephew (he and his brother have always been like my own sons)

I got to his place early so I could hang with him before the hunt... while we were loading the truck, I noticed a doe about 70 yards away in one of the lanes he cut in the goldenrod... I told him to try and stalk it as he was worried about me hunting... I told him to go for it.. it’ll be an awesome memory if he can pull it off...

So he goes way up and around and gets to 30 yards of the doe... I can still see her... I also see a van in the cemetery parking lot ... the doe sees the van as well.. Adam draws... the people get out of the van... Adam stands up and starts to settle the pin.. the deer bolts because of the people at the cemetery. BTW, he lives in the boonies and that cemetery is tiny.

So we drive the short ride to the property we were hunting and decided to hunt together and had a great time doing that.... ending the night having a smallish 8 and 2 doe came by our set.... we watched them for a good 10 minutes and they got within 40 yards... as we were walking out we heard a bear bawl....such a cool night

I'm finally back at my brother's house.

I sat from 3:30 until my pins lost light without seeing anything but squirrels and two raccoons.

I was pulling my stand out so I sneaked down the tree and was nesting the Viper together in the dark.

I was kneeling down finding the tether strap and cinch strap to tie together when I heard a stomp right behind me.

I glanced up and there was a huge buck standing about 20 yards away. He was standing at the crest of the little finger I was hunting and he was silhouetted against the still lighted west sky. He just stood there looking at me and I knelt there looking at him.

Finally he whistled a bit, whirled and bounded off over the crest.

I have no idea how many points he had but I know he was bigger than anything I've ever killed.

Now why couldn't he have come out 15 minutes earlier?

I was thinking. I'll bet that buck had no idea what I was. I had been bent over that stand and then I was kneeling by it.

Also, he was headed towards the patch of woods I'll be sitting in tomorrow morning with my muzzleloader.

Had a good sit, could of shot a doe but I wasn’t ready to pack a deer carcass in the hotel tub. Going to hunt the same spot in morning then do some midday scouting.

Kid's soccer game could get rained out *sniff* and open the door for a mid day and evening soiree (that's French for party ya damn yokels) in the deer woods. Slow cooking a doe shoulder for bbq tacos tomorrow and just set up the smoker for smoked venison. God I love this! Good luck in the wee morning hours you beautiful dedicated souls.

I'm up, cars packed, clothes ain't smoked and I'm not taking Joe's wife to the airport.

That said, we do have the remnants of the tropical storm blowing in around 2-3pm. Trying a new old spot this morning, edge of a swamp.

If I shoot one late it will be a **** show...

1 hr drive and a bit over a mile hike.

Soaking in a hot tub because I can still smell exhaust on me after a shower last night. 30 degrees and it looks like noon out there little if any cloud cover. Will be sitting a first time stand for this year. This SSE breeze will be good for along gully. Shot my first bow deer out of it, a 7pt. And several since. Legal time 7:24 today.
    Good luck guys
