Gameplay for tomorrow , wind is good, hopefully ground is still wet. Approaching from creek bottom and working my way up to the bedding and scouting as I go. Going to take prolly 1 1/2 hrs getting in there.

Well, I could have killed a doe tonight. I had two walk by at about 30 yards in the woods about a half hour before dark.

Then just a few minutes before dark a lone doe walked out into the plot and fed by at 10 yards.

It would have been an easy shot but I had no plans on shooting a doe tonight. I don't want to botch the spot doing a nighttime recovery on a doe.

I'll be back in the same spot in the morning and if a doe gives me a shot I'll take it. A midday recovery won't blow the spot.

On the bright side of of tonight is that I have my biggest buck back on cam. Numerous videos on a mock scrape. One at 545 am. Time to start tracking him down.

Going to get up at 5 and check the radar. That will tell me what my plans are for the day. Didn’t go out tonight it was high winds and rain.

This phone ban at work sucks, and what sucks worst about it is I'm the only one actually adhering to it.

If you're going to implement something, effing enforce it.

I get home from work and still have 75-80% charge. Sure I sneak on a time or two while in the chitter since I have the wifi P/W, but nobody sees me on it, at least I hope not  .

Come Nov. 1st you're going to wish I had foresaken this thread, I'm going to be in the stand more than I'm at work.

I've pretty much given up on October hunting anymore. I've never seen anything older than a 1 1/2 before Halloween, I usually let the other hunters have it. Come November I'm usually alone out there which surprises me.

I haven't figured it all out yet, but I'm gonna switch it up some this year.

I may hunt a Sunday morning in the next two weekends, don't even care if I kill or see anything. I really want to hunt where no one does on the property. I've got 2 Lone Wolf's and an XOP Air Raid that have hung on the garage wall for several years now.

I use them this year or watch the classifieds at seasons end.

Blue dot is the deepest stand, where I killed this guy a few years ago.

Inside the red line of that SE corner of the property no stands to my knowledge exist, lines don't match on each as the topo is easier to follow for me

Uncle once told me he killed some big bucks in there but after the leaves drop you had to get in really early due to the depth of them.

Now, I'm almost thinking he was telling me to hunt there and giving me clues to his success when he was able bodied.

Long post so ending it bow, kinda forgetting where I'm going with it

Always carry a back up release in your pack. I learned this the hard way last year when I stupidly put my release on before climbing up and broke it on a climbing stick.

I did that once in early season, walked back up and got the release. On the way back down right after the pond I stripped down to my boxers the rest of the way. At that time no trail cams were set out

8746B2EB-A14D-41AE-8FE3-6A4F9C8A1464.jpeg Ok here goes . Tree I planned on didn’t work out. Too much canopy/ no visibility. So I climbed 2 other trees and couldn’t make up my mind. Decided to ground hunt but then found a nice maple to set up in. It was a hard climb but I’ve got a nice rut set now. Blew a doe out on way in but she came back while I was hanging the set. She milled around Within 40 yds of me the whole setup and then moseyed off. When I finally got settled in I thought I better grab my bow and draw back to find all my shooting lanes. Oops...Accidental arrow deployment. Now I have a lumenok glowing under me 10 yds from tree. 30 min of shooting light left had another doe come in. Let her go. Then a little 6 came under me. He really wanted to know what that green glowing thing was. He put a show on under me for about 15 min. I had a feeling he was going to eventually wind me with the thermals falling, which he did. He blew and blew and blew just how mama taught him. On my climb down it was dark but I was quickly covered up with deer. I hugged the tree till I couldn’t hear them anymore. So the real movement in this area was after dark. Gonna have to push deeper towards the bedding. Oh well I still had fun.
