Sitting on a little kill plot that’s in a pinch between a lake and bean field you can see in the background. Our cams show a few decent bucks (a few times in the last week) in this plot around daylight. Nothing so far this morning. Was in here well before daylight. Hope I didn’t blow anything out. Approach was good, wind was good

 It was a last minute decision. It works because with the terrain it isn't visible from any of the hunting areas west of there.

Spike just came in. Not sure if he bedded or just traveling. Explains the little rubs here.

Just had a 3 point and a doe at 15 yards... she looked like a yearling

Well gang, I decided to skip the morning hunt this morning. Not because I'm bummed about screwing up an easy shot (which I am), but primarily because I'm going to Church later with my brother later and don't want to miss it if I happened to kill one.

I think I might know why I've been shooting high a lot lately. Well, I know why I did last night.

I shoot a Trijicon Accupin sight. It's been a fantastic hunting sight due to the tritium illuminated pin.

One problem this sight has always had is that it has quite a bit of "slop" in the gearing, but that's never been a problem. It's not great for target archery, but at hunting distances it's fine. That's not it though.

This sight has an illuminated triangle and you center the top point of the triangle. This triangle is almost 1\8" tall.

I realized that what I've started doing in the "heat of the moment" is that I'm forgetting to center the top point and instead I'm centering the whole thing which makes a big difference, especially if I'm off a little.

In essence, I'm not taking my time and I'm screwing it up. Yes, it's operator error and yes, if I would calm down and slow down I could correct it, but why not just eliminate the issue?

So, last night I express ordered a Spot Hogg Fast Eddie XL. It'll be here Tuesday and I'll retire the Trijicon.

I've shot the Fast Eddie before and I know I shoot WAY better with it. I've just put off getting one.

I'll be back out this afternoon and tomorrow morning and if I have a shot I'll force myself to slow down and not screw up again.

After 30 I usually don't shoot anyway unless everything is perfect.

Well wind is perfect again for this evening so I’ll be working closer into the predicted core area of more mature bucks and direction of the sparring I heard last night. I’m gonna put myself between them and the loaded oak ridge

If I can pinpoint where exactly a big buck is bedded in there I might water access that
