What a great night so far! Just been watching these 2 great bucks just feed in the cattails, with out a care in the world! Still have a hour, don't know if they will come this way or not. But I know where I'm hunting tomorrow!

Small shoots of grass growing up out of this wet bottom. Just had a doe with 2 button bucks come thru at 5 yards. They were eating the same thing.

Maybe some kind of water weeds, not sure what it is. They spent a hour in here eating though.

Launched an arrow at a doe. Hit was high but likely fatal.

    Fawns cane back without mom.

I'll have to wait for my brother to come around dark.

LC a doe killing machine. Super overcast so getting dark fast here as well. Turkeys are close again may end up taking one.

Not sure about this guys. The shot hit her above the shoulder any hit the offside shoulder. Arrow didn't pass through.

I'm about 18 feet up and she was at 20 yards.

There was only about 10" of arrow sticking out the entry side.

She's got two wounds but it wasn't a complete pass through.

If that shot hit where you said it did I don't think she'll run more than about 60 to 70 yd total

Do you think it penetrated through the other side even though it didnt fully exit?

Well it got dark on me guys, probably try to hunt a morning or evening this week before or after work, then we are going to give this piece a break next weekend, planning on getting up early and sneaking into a doe bedding area, going to try to get out there at some point this week and check the camera see how the movement has been in that area!

Sounds like duck potato. It is a common water/marsh plant in the midwest. I don’t have it near me, but I have heard the Hunting Public talk about as a key swamp food.

Wow what a great hunt tonight. Got out at 2:30 never got back until 7:10. Beautiful full moon hike up the road. Nothing until 6:15. Then a really big 4 pt got up out of bedding behind me. Fed on acorns for a while and gave me time to stand and turn. I was hoping he was with one of his big buddies. The beams were high and wide and he was a solid 2 1/2 yr old. When he got to 17 yrds I had a wide open broad side shot and enough space to draw undetected. I just couldn't. So he came in a bit closer now down wind . He looked up straight at me. Ya he's had some encounters else where. Bobbed his head, pawed the ground when turned and circled me. He came back in at 21 yrds then drank from the fog tub and ate hazel nuts. Circled me more and rubbed a large 4ft tree stump I'd cut this summer and wandered through the timber to the big front plot. Bythen an orphaned fawn came in and fed on bramble and acorns... Man he really was a sweet 4 and I believe he's an off spring of a giant old 4 I have pics of from a few years ago. I'm hoping his buddies are still around.. Just a beautiful afternoon to be out.

To be honest I'm not sure at this poinr. My brother has been here for a half hour and we haven't found the first drop of blood. It makes no sense to me.
