Might get down to freezing Friday night, clear skoes no clouds to trap heat. Everything looking great, then see the wind....

West wind, west is the worst possible direction for the property. November it would not matter. Decisions, decisions.

Well this is the 6 I was talking about. A new deer I’ve never seen but my god if he comes by in the morning it’s all over.

Well ended up seeing about 8 deer and could hear countless others in the marsh. Right at dark I had a doe walk down to me and stand at 20 yards. She stood there well past dark, so I was stuck in the stand for awhile. No antlers seen tonight.

OK.. A tad pizzed. Just as I stood to gather equipment, they filed in BEHIND ME right into my scent stream. Stopped them dead and they walked up out of the gully to the ridge behind me. They came out of bedding in front of me, good wind . Thing is they went right under a stand at mouth of gully..LOL

I plan on it, but it is a bad wind and only one stand I can think of that would make it plausible is likely going to be taken.

So many leaves are going to be dropping that morning and afternoon, especially if it freezes.

    So,...

All of my hunting clothes have been washed, treated with permethrin, dried and packed.

I'll head to Kentucky tomorrow morning, get there around mid-day and head to the new farm with my brother to scout and put two climbers on trees and then I'll be hunting through Monday morning.

If this trip is a bust I am thinking about taking my two Vipers, hanging them in the T woods and leaving them there for the week. I want to leave the woods alone here in MO for a week or two before the chasing starts.

There is a two day muzzleloader season in KY on the 19th and 20th and the T woods is loaded with deer. If you read my previous posts you know why.

I'll come home and do some fall bass fishing Wednesday and Thursday and then head back to Kentucky.

I need to check and see if I can have both a gun and a bow in the same stand in KY. If not I will have to decide on which weapon to take with me.

    I think it's a solid plan.

Speaking of the T woods and October 19th, this happened there a few years ago on that very date.

Yeah, it was a ML kill but it was a 30 yard shot.

It was early in the season but he was in full rut. He was chasing a doe, he stunk to high heaven and his stomach was totally empty.

I don't believe in an October lull.
