Joe, you absolutely need more options. Start networking, knocking on doors, whatever it takes.

Thanks! I am at Holland Bottoms. I have hunted Little Rock AFB the last 2 years with no success. Where do you hunt at?

Mainly Bell Slough and Camp Robinson SUA. I drew a permit for the Lake Maumelle WMA. I have yet to hunt there. I am also doing the Hot Springs Village Urban Hunt. I did that one on Labor Day trying to kill a velvet buck with no luck.

Cut the cord, but don't eliminate it. Hunt the area a few times of year instead of every hunt. In addition to that you could do the DIY IL hunt and branch out to different areas of public.

When I go in a ways on public I rake the last 100-150 yards of any major debris. But usually I walk the paths that the deer use, they keep them fairly clear.

If remember right from your past trips its not real far from me. Not that it'd be better than the outfitters spot but could always make some room for ya for couple days too. If we end up on different teams we'll have to discuss antler restrictions tho ha.

I'd say do what ya gotta do though. You definitely put in the time and effort and I'd be lieing if i said I'd stick with it that long not seeing many deer.

Been out an hour now. I have scent wicks 20 yrds either side in front of me.
Pics show they come in behind.stopped raining but getting wet any ways.about time they have been showing. Crows have started getting active. I usually see deer when that happens.

Yeah the farm I hunted was in Colchester, the camp/house we stay at is in Augusta.

This is my fault though. I have not put in the required offseason scouting (Winter with the snow to find bedding), and I'm not one to go knock on doors. Of course, my outlook on the situation could change in ten seconds on my next hunt lol!!

Just jumped a stud out of his bed. Found a trail leading out of a 40 acre tangled mess of hell leading out to a grass field. Back tracked around and started finding decent rubs in a staging area. Told myself...this isnt big buck sign bc they werent tall rubs. Told myself to set up and see what happens then I started slow walking again for 10 yds....bam up jumps a bedded mature buck. Not real tall tines but 20 inches wide and full of mass. Im set up now. He didnt smell me. He trotted off 30 yds then just walked off.

Hopefully he’ll come back around and circle back around into his bed.

Late getting in the stand, but I'm in. First sit of the season. Squirrels already going crazy. No wind, warmer than the weather website said it was going to be.

I should not have googled "bump and dump" in an attempt to come up with a clever meme. That definitely has a different meaning outside of hunting.

Back in, different spot thou, I'm close to where my camera is and I have acorns dropping all around me. I thought I heard a tree being rubbed 5 minutes ago but can't see anything, course I had another Hunter walk by me. Wonder if it was him climbing up. It's warmed up some , now 58
