The last pics are where we saw him run away after the shot. we originally did not walk into the crop to check for blood because we had seen him run out of it and just followed that trail

After seeing that blood I’m pretty sure it was a vital shot just kinda high..
Does anyone know where to find the nearest blood trailing dog? I’m in east central Saskatchewan

Have you grid searched the thickets?

From those last pics you posted that looked like decent blood. Does it just stop after that?

We spent 2 hrs walking around following different tracks and trails and trying to figure out where the birds were but we haven’t done a proper grid search

I don’t know of anyone with a bird dog
My cousins have cow dogs but they would probably just herd up all the deer and elk in a clearing somewhere

that is a lot of arrow in him. that's enough to get into the vitals. the blood looks better than the first pic last night. he could be laying in that brown crop field and you could walk right by him. there is more blood nearby just take your time. find water because it's likely he's going to head there.

One of those might do the trick if your grid search comes up dry. Just keep it on a lead.

Keep at it! That is more than enough penetration if that arrow is in him still. Keep us posted!

There is a small dugout but it is thoroughly infested by beavers there are no standing trees within 20 yards of it
But the only other water is either half a mile east or 1mile north

That 60 acre bush was logged out 15 years ago so it is a mess of twenty foot poplars and hazel brush

Here's my half ass attempt at what I would do. Unless being pushed he won't take cuts through thick stuff unless he is ready to bed down. I'd walk the easy routss looking for blood, has to be at least droplets somewhere to indicate where he went. Then grid search small sections at a time.
