I’ve shot a lot a deer in new spots that I don’t have a lot of info on. Especially from the ground.

Could be a good one tomorrow morning. It’s supposed to be raining all afternoon and night, ending tomorrow morning.

Perfect wind for my hotspot! Gonna have to break out the poncho. No ghille suit, if it gets wet, it will weigh 100 pounds!

Back in the stand for the pm. Skeeters are worse than they were this morning. Now that I'm in the stand they don't seem too bad. It's hot though.

Dang you guys are in early. It’s almost 80 degrees here. I’m gonna slide in about 2 hours prior to sunset.
    Good luck!

I read an article a while back, maybe it was on here but during the rut to change it up and have a game plan to sit in 3 different locations during the day. Like break it up.... morning spot until about 10, sit at the second spot from 10-2, and maybe another afternoons spot to finish the day... With each sit you can maybe get pumped out about seeing something, but I understand your point in not disturbing the woods. It just breaks up the monotony I guess.

Deer snorting 200-300 yards away. Cross wind. I didn’t think I smelled THAT bad :)

She must have seen my live from the stand selfie.

So you guys using the thermocells, do you use the standard pads or the earth scents?

Only used mine on stand once or twice, didn't like the igniter and forgot to light it before heading in.

I always just muffled mine with my hand or stuck it in my pack to get it going. I always used just the regular pads. Never had a deer be alarmed by it.

Had one of the best early season hunts I've had in a long time this past Saturday. Cold fronts have these Wisconsin deer going crazy! Saw 5 bucks, 11 doe, and a nubbin. One of the bucks was the biggest I've passed in my bowhunting career (mid to high 120s eight point). Bucks were sparring like crazy. Hunt ended with me taking a nice doe for the freezer! Looking forward to getting back out for a buck!

Finally got to the stand....bumped something a ridge over on the way in. It’s warm, but I’m just excited to get out in the woods. Good luck to those that are out!
