I'm down and out back at the truck. All in all a good morning with the two does and pretty enjoyable conditions. Be back after it this afternoon.

Don't feel badly, in the past I've been on stand for 12 straight hours (dark to dark) during the rut and not seen a single deer. It doesn't happen often, but when it does, it's disheartening as hell!!!

Those are hard for me to do. I get bored pulling all day sits.

If I see a deer where I hunt, it's an amazing day. Last year I did multiple all day sits and saw nothing. In fact, I only saw one deer all season last year. The year before that I saw Zero deer, Including 5 plus all day sits in a row.

    Welcome to New England hunting.

Not sure how you keep doing it! Props to you for sticking it out. I would have found a new hobby by now if it was like that here.

I love being in the hardwoods! It makes any encounter special and memorable.

When I first went to Illinois for a rut hunt a few years ago, I saw more bucks in the first hour of daylight then all of my seasons combined hunting since I was 14. I was completely amazed and blown away at the amount, and quality of deer in the mid-west. It's a whole different world, polar opposites. For me a good rut here is seeing A buck.

They are tough, but I think it increases the odds of an encounter with a buck enough to make me do it. I wouldn't hunt the rut any other way!

during the rut when I do my all day sits I actually have to get down and go sit in the truck or go get something to eat for about an hour before I get back in the stand. Just too much for me to sit there all day. especially when theres no action.

Going for my first sit of the season tomorrow. Hunting all day. Gonna have to try an area of the farm that I’ve barely hunt because of hard access since wind won’t be right for my other sets.

I hear what you're saying, but I just see that as another exit and entrance to disrupt the woods. Not to mention that I have about a mile walk to my stand. Easier to "stand my ground".

All day sits for me are easy when it is the rut, and even whem not if I want to sit an evening hunt. Still get discouraged easily, but even seeng a buck 200 yds away and never coming closer renews that optimism, and it slowly turns to pessimism again

I've shot bucks now from just before sunrise(legal half hour before) to 2:30-3pm and in between. Only seen a couple from 3pm to sunset but think that is more to do with they are probably heading towards staging areas where the does are getting ready to hit the fields. Still sit anyway as there will be that first time.

Probably won't make it out this weekend, hoping to work actually missed 2 1/2 days last week with a lame back.

    Soon though

Looks like i should be able to get out for an hour and a half after work, going to hunt a stand that I have not hunted before, and dont have a camera out. I have seen deer in the field in front of this stand from the road though... well see what happens!

I have been looking at my forecast for the next 2 weeks. We are supposed to remain in the upper 80's until next Monday, then drop to the mid 80's l Tuesday, then Wednesday lower 80's to higher 70's then FINALLY drop to the lower 70 and upper 60's on Thursday. I plan to be in a tree from that time forward! This weather is crazy right now!
