Last hour and half of slob orange for me. In a spot where I usually see only does and small bucks hopefully Mr big moved in. They could be bedded down in front of me maybe something will stand in the golden rod 1544386186095.jpg

Got a stand hung today in the pouring rain. Camera had nearly 300 pics from this past week. a lot of daytime pics. Don't see anything chasing with a good mix of bucks and does coming through.

Didn't hunt this morning, but I'm here now. Dead calm except a slight N or NE breeze. Best part us no beagles or bumbling trespassing neighbor.

A foot of snow here might knock out my hunting plans the next 2 days. But red wine is good.

Just got home, 3 hour drive later and 5 deer butchered between the the 3 of us. We did pretty well.

Found my buck 30 yds farther then were I had tracked it to, it had dove over a heck of a brush pile and dead right there. It was a nice shot, and not at all the deer I thought he was in my rushed decision. My 8 turned into a small 6, with a big body. Not the first time I've done that during shotgun season, probably won't be the last. It's funny, I've killed a lot of deer and a lot of big deer, I love the fact that I still get excited by a deer coming out unexpectedly. I haven't killed a deer in 2 years and I'm just thankful to put a couple deer in the freezer.

Today I had a very odd encounter shooting what I thought was a big doe, turned out to be a really nice size button buck. Let him come in to about 20 yards in the bean field he was eating in. Put the 450 Bushmaster right behind the shoulder, just rocked him. Looked up at me, and it freaking charged me. Flat out sprint. Tried to get off one more round through the scope, then fired twice quick at point blank range no scope. Jumped back as it rolled to a stop at my feet, still nailed me with its hooves. Thought I was gonna have to drop my rifle and pull my revolver in self defense to defend my position!!!

Beer tastes good tonight. Thanks for all the well wishes [IMG][IMG]
