    Nice job, TC

Washing my clothes and packing up my gear for the first time since Nov. 11. Just started a batch of venison steaks marinating for dinner tonight. Made a couple adjustments on my portable ladder stand. Now I'm heading to the range to make sure the .44 and .35 Remmy (in case I hunt a field edge) are still dialed in.

    I am freaking geeked.

Nice, I'm thinking I will try again with the bow in the AM, and switch to a rifle for the afternoon. winds arent looking too great for my usual spot though.

I used to have a Thompson in 35 Remington, man that thing was fun to shoot, wish I had never gotten rid of it.

Scouting trip was kind of a bust. Seen some doe at 200+ yards. A few little rubs. Nothing to write home about. I’m thinking the piece I was on was pressured hard last week during gun season. Might try the back side next week. Headed to the farm in the morning after some meat. Have three packs left of my October doe. Not gonna be too picky..

Damn it!!! Someone stole my gig. Congrats!

I'll be back out Friday before sunrise to reclaim my throne, this thread needs a little more whine with its cheese.

Top square is mai property. Bottom rectangle is 5 acres that I do not believe anyone hunts. Not sure how much commotion goes on with that property to the east, so doubt it would be a sanctuary. Very well could be hunted by someone. Have to maybe walk the creek and see if I see any stands or good sign. Other images are zoomed on that section.

good thing I went; the .35 was 2" low and 3" left at only 25 (longest lane they had.) At real distance that would have been a serious problem.
The .44 was dead nuts. First 2 shots went into the same hole; 3rd was touching. Went back in the case after that. Took me 10 rounds to get the .35 to get 100% dialed in. The range doesn't have a lead sled type thing so it's impossible to do the 2 shot zero. Have to do it the old way: shoot, click-click-click; shoot, click-click-click.

    Umm, FYI it is....

    Click, click......boom

I've got a Ruger Super Blackhawk with 10 1/2" barrel. Would have rather had a Redhawk but for $550 including 4 boxes of ammo I couldn't pass it up. Serial number put it as a 1983 model, cylinder and mechanisms have literally no wear or slop. Put a scope on it, but probably going to put the rear site back on shouldn't really need it with that barrel length.

Growing more optimistic by the second.

Aunt told me all that has been shot by others this year is a button buck. Hardly anyone has been hunting at all(me included).

If there was ever a time to be agressive, but I just don't know how to do that in a bottom where winds swirl.

I'm more confused on which stand to sit now. If we get the snow tomorrow, maybe an inch, I will watch the known scrapes on the way in. I'll hunt fresh sign if opened up, should stay cool and shadowed enough to retain any snow.

Other than that I do not know, i might see 2 all day sits and a half day Sunday in my future.

    My wall hanger awaits me
