No service where I was hunting this evening. Snuck into a near area and hung a stand. I was covered in deer before dark. Looks like I may have found a honey hole! Back in the morning! Anyone have any luck this evening?

Awesome! I miss being able to track in the snow. Really makes it easy to follow the blood trail!

The shot was about 4:00. At 6:30 she's already in the fridge, I've cleaned and resharpened my knives, cleaned my arrow and resharpened the blades and cleaned the kitchen up.

I can't wait to watch the Tactacam footage and see how it turned out.

I did drop my bow after the shot like I always have this season but this time I remembered it and should have gotten her crashing on camera. IMG_2944.jpg IMG_2945.jpg IMG_2949.jpg

Guy at my uncles lease supposedly shot a deer named MoMo. He’s a local drop tined freak that people in the area have been trying to kill for years. They backed out and going to look tonight before the rain comes in. Hope to get a hero pic by tomorrow morn at least. Man I love big deer

Live from the rink! Mavs vs. Oilers.
Our youngest had practice so we stayed for the game.

So this year has been horrible for mind tricks. My normal hunt spot seams completely deerless. So i phoned a friend. After hunting till ten yesterday at my normal spot. I packed up and made the drive down here. Saw several deer moving in all the fields around me. Finally a doe came in the hayfield heading to the bale i was sitting behind. I said meat in the freezer.
Thought she was 30 found out she was 35ish after and shot underneath her.

Being depressed and all made the 45 min drive home ate showered and went to bed. Woke up this morning with alittle hope i would get a deer in front of me today since tomorrow starts shotgun season.

This morning came back down here to my friends. Sat till 11am without seeing a deer. Came to the house ate and talked. Wife and daughter come down. Said bye to them and headed to the hayfield.

So get out to the make shift blind set up in the hayfield.(3 haybales set in an offset triangle.) See a doe come out of the nieghbors trees watch her for 25 mins mill around. Then caught a movement out of the corner of my eye. Doe coming in at 50. Slide behind my haybale. Grab bow, lean back out there is a buck. So draw my bow lean out 30 yards broadside eating. Stand up relax and release.
He spins and runs off into the trees. Heard him crash in the trees. Figure i missed again super bummed. Go look for my arrow cant find it. Then notice the blood. Take pics head to buddy's house. He says yeah you got him.
Eat supper then head out. 3 of us on a blood trail a blind man could of seen. 50 yards and found him under a thorn bush.

With tomorrow being first day of shotgun season here im pumped i got my bow buck. Not a monster but my best with a bow and will be a great addition to my freezer. 20181117_145743.jpg 20181117_145740.jpg IMG_1173.jpg IMG_1170.jpg

Well, it’s the second week of rifle, time to hang up the bow and pull out the ol’ lever gun. I’m a little desperate for some venison haha. Maybe if I take a Doe I will switch back.
