You guys ever hunt a spot like this? I'm gonna put boots on the ground and scout it in next couple weeks. Not sure if it is a true island or it is connected. Looks like a darn good spot for some deer to hide during the 7 week gun season.

You guys have any luck on spots like this?[IMG]

We’ve had phenomenal hunts on islands on Mississippi River and Kaskaskia in Illinois. I killed a good buck in 2012 and I’ve had multiple encounters with great bucks. The challenge is getting in undetected because the islands we hunt flood and are littered with debris like driftwood and trash. Makes it very hard to walk quietly. Very ugly place to hunt as well. They go there to escape pressure from mainlanders. Not as many people willing to put a boat on a big river and make a 20 min boat ride in the dark dodging barges

Do the deer just swim the short distance to the island and bed down? I'm considering putting a trail cam on the island. Seems like a lot of fun to try and figure it out.

It’s time to head out 10 degrees with 10mph winds. Hand warmers and heated insoles ready. Good luck

-2 windchills + 3 big deer in freezer = staying home and staying warm.

Happy Thanksgiving to my Live From The Stand Family! I love you guys more than you know. You have motivated me and helped me in so many ways.

Good luck to all that are out!
