My goal is still a 2nd mature buck, but I may fill all my tags with doe if need be. I think the ratio is a bit out of whack right now.

After firearm season I should pretty much have the place to myself. I really want to get out during any late season snows, find out exactly where they are moving where I currently do not hunt and make plans for a big change up next year.

That sounds like a really good plan. Love hunting and scouting in snow. As far as around where I hunt the pressure will get a lot better after 2nd gun but then all the deer have ptsd and are jumpy lol

What is you alls take on me hunting in the rain tomorrow? It is supposed to be 80-90% chance of a steady rain the whole hunt. I know that it is November and anything can happen but I am gonna be soaked and my bow as well (I am willing to get soaked of course). In general, is it worth it? Do you think the movement will naturally be less? I would be about 25 feet up in a climber and hunting over a corn Feeder/natural rut movement. Tomorrow is my only opportunity to hunt till Saturday. Thanks for the input!!

Oh ok! Thanks for the info! I'm going bare bones, so I think I'm going to go with the assault platform. Like I said, I'll be buying the flip top upper section for all day sits for the rut. Most of my early season sits will only be for 2 hours at a time max.

Not really. I'm too much of a nerd maybe but I like to see what they are up to no matter what time of year. They just interest me.

ehh...I wouldn't. I'd hate to not be able to find it with no blood trail. That's mydeal on tuesday, It's the last day of the season but will be raining, so Tomorrow will be my last day.

I just always worry about tracking after the shot. Rifle yes, bow I get real hesitant.

It's still first half of November, they will be moving because of this reason alone despite weather.

Not sure of your exact location in KY, but if rain is being called for all day I cannot imagine it will be a down pour. Here is the rainfall basically from about sunset tonight through sunset tomorrow night. Whole state is in the 1/4 inch or less adide from the Southeast and very southern border.

Don't sit it out regretting not going, go and call it early when you can't sit any longer. Light rain also affects the scents traveling in the air, bucks gonna have to try a little harder on their scent checking and move more.

Thanks for the info and some really good points cls. I am actually in Arkansas right now but will be back in KY on Saturday. So it is showing more rain in Arkansas on that diagram. Hmmm. The other comments make a good point about trying to track a deer without a good blood trail due to the rain. A lot to think about. I appreciate all the input!

Well guys thought I'd share a sad story that most of you can relate too. We have history and have watched a buck on my lease the last few years and my best friend just missed at him last week with his bow. He was our #1 and just had some cool character and really thick bases. The neighbor to our lease text me this afternoon asking if this buck looked familiar... It was indeed the buck we've been chasing for the last three years. No "Booner" but big for my neck of the woods here in southeast Texas.

Time to regroup at the lease and target some other deer once I'm back. Truly disappointing but at least I know he's dead. EE6D160E-0407-48DD-BB31-E2C7F42ED905.jpeg

God I’m beating myself up over that one. Just one of those so close yet so far things.

Just super tall. Real heavy and wide enough. His 2’s and 3’s almost made me fall out of my climber. Good mature deer too. Big thick neck, low hanging briscuit, etc. Really thought it was gonna happen tonight honestly. It is what it is though I mean it’s nothing I did, they had no clue I was there. Watching him move slowly into the grass field where I lost sight of him was literal torture. Lol

Oh no not at all. I’m just saying my friend has been blessed with a primo grade A family property to hunt. They put a lot of time and effort into keeping these big bucks on their property and growing them into full potential 5.5+ yr old deer with great genetics. I could only dream of a place like this. Like if you win the powerball this is what you buy. So I have to respect what they do and be thankful for the opportunity. When I’m there it’s a good chance at a deer of a lifetime. I’ve hunted there a few times and have had to let some great deer walk. What’s amazing is the body size on these deer. It’s fun to just watch them. But I feel the same way you do. I’d be happy to take a lot of the deer that I have to watch walk by. Lol
