Just had a shooter in front of me for a while. Never presented a shot, kept facing me and would go around some trees. It was hard to tell just how big. I know for sure an 8 point but I think he may have been right at the 13" spread for Texas. Was to dark to really tell. Almost let one fly boys.

If you have contemplated the heated jacket/hoodie, DO IT!! U am not a gadget guy nor do I like to bring all kinds of extra to the stand, but this coat is amazing! I could sit all day w/ no problem. Only downside is the battery pack on the side but if I put my safety harness on first, no problem.

They are moving folks! Already seen a buck pushing a doe. Couldn't tell how many points and they stayed out of range. I have heard 3 gun shots as well. Since the green army is on base today for opening day . Good luck. Let's kill!

Here's how my night and possibly my season ended last night. To start I've hunted everyday since last Saturday. Basically all day sits since Monday. Saw an ok number of deer but no good bucks. So finally yesterday at about 330 a doe comes by and a buck is in tow. Holy crap it's a shooter. He's coming by at 15 yards. Over 45 hours on the stand at least all leads to this. I grunt to stop him and he stops right behind a small tree. Only his head and back 1/3 of his body are visible. I'm holding...holding. at this point I think about gut shooting him thinking I'd just come back and search for him in the morning. I elect to pass on that option. Next thing I know he goes from standing still to a full sprint in less than a second to chase that doe. I'm literally yelling at him to stop. He doesn't, my heart breaks. A week of my life wasted for this. I honestly don't feel like hunting anymore this year.

Winds have picked up a lot, oak leaves falling so hearing them bit harder.

Sitting in same oak area as last night, lots of rubs that were fresh 2-3 weeks ago. Here's hoping he's still around. I used to hunt about 150-200 yds south of this spot usually had activity right at light (oops, I was late) and 0830-11a.

Rocking the boonie. Ancient boonie secret- helps you hear. Like cupping both ears at same time

That’s tough man but it’s hunting, you didn’t waste time, you made the right call not making a gut shot, time in the woods is never wasted!

I wouldn’t call that a waste! It’s all a part of hunting, get back out there man it’s the rut!

I broke through the creek this morning but didn’t think I got too wet. My left leg the bibs are literally frozen solid to the knee . Hard as a rock. Bottoms of my boots have ice on them and it sounds like smashing glass against this XOP platform any time I move.

Just had a doe and 2 fawns come through at 100yds. Surprised she still has her fawns with her.

I have heard about 15 shots, but 3 came from the exact same location and about 3 to 5 seconds apart. Nothing in my area though. I know there is supposed to be at least 1 more gun guy in here?

Pro tip- if your drop away rest gets wet and it is going to get cold enough to freeze overnight, don't leave bow in your truck overnight. Froze solid this AM. Had to hold a lighter on it for several minutes

Another pro tip- You can’t nock strobing Nocturnals slow enough. They are bright in the dark lol.

Off work by 7, in my stand by 730, and 7:32 first spike rolls through lol literally pulled my bow up and turned around and he’s cruising through at 20. Hoping a doe strolled through recently
