Tomorrow is gonna be great. First day I'll be able to spend all day in the woods. I'm not leaving until its pitch black.

I will say this...if you are not having fun and are sitting day after day in the same stand or two. Get up and move. Explore. If I dont have success by 1030am tomorrow I'm walking and I'm finding the sign. I'm having fun and learning even if I bump 20 deer. This stuff is a blast!

Sue me I've had some wine.

Well, we lost Monday, Tues, and today because of rain, those were important days to be in the woods. You only get so many during the rut! Now, tomorrow they're calling for winds of 15mph-25mph , with gusts up to 40mph! Can't win. But, I'll try to deal with it, at least for an evening hunt. That's when I saw all of the activity yesterday anyway. I think this is some of the worst rut weather that I can recall.

Same area yes. Looks like he was headed right to where I saw those does bedding in the morning and I believe the sign I found about 10 days ago was from him. Little pinch pt between a thicket and the creek with 10 foot high banks.

    I'll be there at 6am...waiting

after sitting out all day in the rain then blizzard then monsoon I seen zero. heading out in the am for as long as I can stand it. supposed to be 17mph wind gusting to 34mph with 2" of snow along with it. I never in my 28 years of bowhunting have I experienced such bad weather. this has been going on for about a month straight pretty much everyday. i'll fight to the finish line on Monday then it's over until late season.

I 2nd that, I run and gun and occasionally hunt honey holes that aren’t that way all season. Sign and patterns change throughout the season, especially when food sources change.

I can't stand my stands anymore and need to hit up some public around here. Question: is a hang on and sticks or a climber better? Leaning towards a climber but feel I could be limited to what trees I could use.

I've always used a climber. I can get up into most spots I want however about 10 percent of the time, sticks would be better. I've never used sticks although I do have a brand new Muddy hang on that's been sitting in my garage for 3 years.

Saw a spike , couple does and fawns . The spike was trying to chase a little. First signs I have seen of rut activity here in West Tn.

    Saw 9 tonight
Had a shooter at dark all I saw was white tines and a big body
Moving closer to where the deer were moving problem is might only be able to get 12 feet off the ground
    Thoughts?

Won’t be out in the morning will try to be in the woods around noon.

12 feet. Good cover. Correct wind with wind blowing a bit. No problem.

Saw 3 bucks this afternoon. One 4 point, one spike and a 3yr old 8 point. Coldest day of the season so far tomorrow. Time to break out the boot blankets!

Just about all the land I hunt both public and private has hardwoods and there you can almost always find a good tree to climb.

Not real sure what's considered a good climber. I have a Summit climber with an open face. I cant stand having a gun rail in front of me as a bow hunter. It is light and a cinch to set up.

Something like this works for me.[IMG]

My phone is sitting in a bag of rice. When I went rogue, i only brought the essentials: Phone, grunt tube, head lamp. I put them in myhand warmer muff. As i was leaving it started to pour. I HATE getting wet in the rain so I was rushing. I crossed the stream and slipped, my phone went flying out of my hand muff into the stream. it was still working, but better safe then sorry.

Day two down, Zero deer seen. The storm that hit the midewest with snow is hitting us now. It is supposed to be clearing up by 5am. I'm hoping for a active morning, I would like to think the bucks would be cruising. I know they are in RI, I had a few cross the road in front of me on the way home.

The rain is like a reset button for my scent in the area. I know the area I hunt is good during the rut to catch a cruising buck. just a matter of time. It sucks, and I am starting to loathe the way I have hunted all of these years.
