It's a ghost town out here. The amount of deer tracks tell me they are here..
.but even spikes aren't walking around.

Ok lunch time is over. The morning was dead aside from the bald eagle, geese and coyotes.
    Slipping back into the sanctuary.

Easier to deal with mentally when you've already got a nice one (or 2) down. Nothing to lose mentality. I'm in same boat. I've been hunting in this general area for over 10 years and only been actually hunting like two or three actual sections. I'm definitely expanding my horizons, especially since judging by the paint markings on the trees the DNR is going to clear cut a couple of these sections this year or next.

Just a brutally boring sit this morning. Saw a doe literally 2 minutes after I got in the stand and nothing for the next 5 hours. Some strange things go through your mind when you have 5+ hours with just you and your thoughts.

About 10 min ago I do something I never do. I let out 2 doe bleats. Actually started laughing. Look left and here comes a bruiser. Probably biggest buck of my life angling down the hill. Walks right past me at 15 fast. I stop him at 20 bc after that he is gone bc of cover and he is gonna hit my wind.

Full disclosure. I forced it through a small opening at 20 yes. Aimed right behind shoulder. I heard what sounded like a good hit. He spun hard and ran into cover.

It happened so fast I just dont know if that sound was the arrow hitting him or wood on the ground. I dont even remember pressuring my release. I just did it.

Waiting til 2 to look. I pray it killed him. If it didnt I forced it through an opening I thought I could make. May have cost me
