It was really quiet until 15 minutes before dark, then a little buck ran a doe past and back down away from me. I look out in the field and hear a deer blowing, and see a big buck running a doe @50 yards. Good end to a quiet day.

I don't know that I would switch to mechanical. Might check Magnus black hornet ser razors. Montecs are notorious for both not being overly sharp and not holding an edge well.

Tough break either way, I know how if feels to lose one. Just thought I would throw out a different option from mechanical. Hope you bounce back and put the next one down in sight!

Dang. Well man I would wager we have all been there and it really sucks. I had a similar situation last year. Keep at it!

Damn, sorry to hear bro. I know the feeling from a few years ago. Like you said, best thing to do is to get back out there and shake it off!

Had a pretty good end of the night. With about 30 mins left I scanned around and spot a doe over by gateway that seperates feild I'm in and neighbors crp. Stands there for a min and then goes along fence heading other direction. She starts working way up fence and notice another deer following. Come to find out it was the doe that got chased off by buck earlier and he was still following her around. So sat there for little while longer to let them get away because I have to walk through the same gate to get to truck. Grab my pack and just get in on and turn to see a doe 50 yards in front of me. She stays about thag distance and goes across field and out gate. So now gotta sit and wait for her to leave. Kept hearing leaves rustling and sounds like something running around, so hey maybe another buck was chasing the 2nd doe. Nope another doe and a fawn. They made it in to about 35 yards for a perfect shot but by this time it was too dark to make shot. I probably could have but didn't wanna chance it, have no idea about time so who knows if was over 30 mins past sunset. Most likely was. So now I haveta sit and wait for them to work across and out of field.

All together 9 deer, 1 being a nice small 8 pointer chases doe around. Oh and i got my blind finished up to put out tomorrow after morning hunt if don't stay. Went with pop up on top for now until figure out how wanna finish it out building walls. [IMG]

So, after seeing deer from 1:45 to 3:00 the evening was a bust.

Not at all what I expected. I really thought they would be moving that last hour of light but nothing was moving. Not even squirrels.

    Weird.

I'll be back at 'em first thing tomorrow.

Saturday kicks off my crisis intervention. I haven't hunted hardly at all since Sept 21. And that's a damn crisis.

Weirdest season ever for me. I'm well rested tho! I'm pumped about this entire month and look forward to a good grind. I may even get another doe tag if things go well. Here's to hoping.

It was really slow today for me. Hunted here and down by Freeman. Not even very many squirrels.

This weather has been pretty stable and low pressure which is about to change drastically. I know rifle kicks off Saturday but I think its gonna be good for movement. I bet a ton of deer drop. I'll be in garden city Saturday and back here Sunday. Lemme know if you need any help as usual.
