Ok will do. Thanks guys. Still figuring this stuff out. I'm still new to this hunting addiction, it's my 3rd year now. 1st time ever had one bed down in front of me.

I'll be giving directions and a topo map to my son so he knows right where I'll be. He is also on standby in case I need some dragging assistance.

Some people are known for their deer killing skills on here, I'm known for taking shower selfies and unicorns.... My Legacy

No blood at the point of impact. The alfalfa field he ran across is knee high in spots so I can’t follow his tracks to the tree line. Walking the field edge by the tree line looking for any sign of blood or my arrow being broken off. Not a good feeling right now. With no exit wound, I’m just praying that he is bleeding out internally.

Good deal. The older I get, the more my wife wants to know where I'll be hunting. She says she cares but I think she is selling secrets! The funny part is my spots stink this year! Joke is on them.

I'm sure you know what you are doing, but be looking for hoof prints/overturned leaves as well. Fingers crossed for you!

Where would you say the shot entered? You felt like you may have gotten one lung so guessing a quartering shot. Towards or away?

Plugged up deer are better to let lay rather than risk pushing them. The fact he stopped twice after the shot leads me to believe it will be fatal if given the time to expire.

Going back to get the truck, change clothes and regroup. Not sure what the hell to think with no blood yet...

The buck I shot this past weekend carried my arrow about 100 yards, I found my arrow 5ft from where he laid down. You may be in luck if it is still in him tearing this up. If it falls out, he may start bleeding. Look for fresh foot tracks, try and follow the path you saw him run, I'm assuming there is moisture on the alfalfa, try and see if there is some kind of trail from the moisture getting knocked off it. You may at least get a general direction of his travel.
Good luck, try and stay positive.

Haha, that's the problem Joe. You could shoot a P & Y buck on public land every season for the rest of your life, and you will still be know for your selfie, unicorn post, and butt shot!
