Back home and warmed up little. Overall pretty good afternoon. Ended up seeing 3 button bucks, a doe, small fork, and the 8 with the broke off tine. Had deer around all night but only had shot on the fork not that would have. Wish woulda got better look at that buck, despite having a broken rack if he was old like his face showed woulda been a good mature deer to take. Nice to see some chasing and hopefully will get the big boys riled up. Idk if I'll go out in morning or not supposed to be raining and to be honest I'm a wuss and Sunday is usually my day to sleep in so with time changing and wanting to hunt all next week might skip it. Good start to vacation hopefully stays goin.

Yikes...thats rough...i have a new neighbor that bought the property boardering the farm i rifle hunt....while scoping out the field, i happen to notice he has a few ladder stands on his side of the property line which happens to be though huge white pines....how did i notice you ask? Because there are clear cut shooting lanes cut into the pines for clear view of the field. Put him on notice...yet again...that i noticed his lanes cut in and some of those trees do not belong to him. Tells me those are "viewing" lanes so they can see whats in the field. Why would he need to see whats in the field? The deer come from his property o to the field! Does anyone else smell bs with this??

First time he was warned about trespassing was last fall when he drove through the field to pick up stands and got caught...oops

Second time he was put on notice was this spring when my shepard found an old gut pile & i noticed he had topped a bunch of trees on the farm and put a ladder stand on the farms property....

    Anyone else seeing a trend?

I've drawn my sword and will live or die by it. I might go out Monday before the big system moves through, but Wed-Fri are my main focus.

Figure give the other guys on the property this weekend without interrupting and I'll get back out after a few days. My back can use the bit of rest anyway, missed a few days of work couple weeks ago with it. Will be nice to just chillax.

Come this time next Sunday I will either have hoisted my mighty sword and said "By the power of Greyskull.... errr N/M

I really think the high pressure midweek is going to be the heart of the midday movement, add in New Moon and I only hope I made the right choice.

Congratulations Slugger! S.McArthur! And to everyone else who scored today!

Last bit of my hunt went great! Field became alive after 5:30, saw a total of 8 deer, two of them were bucks. Only one deer actually presented a shot though. It was a 5 pointer, it looked to be 1.5 years old. He was standing broadside at 10 yards, giving me every opportunity, and I would have shot him, but I wasn’t totally convinced he was legal. You need three on a side here in PA, and each point needs to be atleast one inch long. He had two long forks and a little sticker point on one side that didn’t look to be an inch long. I figured it was better safe than sorry.

Great hunt overall though. Both bucks were harassing some does pretty hard. It’s only a matter of time before a good one comes into range.

Yea its looking like rain alot next few days here. See what happens. Today was encouraging with it being the best day so far this year as far as sightings but with weather next few days may go down fast. Half way wanna keep grinding but half way wanna wait for best chances and not burn out area before that happens.

Been tossing the idea around of moving a few stands also. Got one I know rarely has any action and another one thats kinda iffy. But there's a spot never had one that would like to try and a totally different area of farm hardly ever hunt but think it might be worth trying. Used to be pretty thick and rough ground but last year there was alot or work done to clear brush and make it nicer to move through. Other spot wanna try has 2 or 3 big oaks that dropped tons of acorns on field edge and even though they're avout done i walk right by there heading to stand was in tonight and there's tracks and crushed acorns all over where it seems to get hit often. Idk tho need to just have like 50 stands but then you'd never pick right one anyway. Ha

Just came to that same conclusion. That front is going to bring some good temp drops. Tired of seeing the same 8 does and 4 little bucks. This front should get those bruisers up on their feet and roaming.
