Ok, so started with a momma doe& late fawn(?) Nubbin come into the plot. I say late fawn b/c hes alot smaller than the other nubbins i have seen&still allowed to nurse?! Momma doe starts chasing a 2nd nubbin away from the plot while a huge nanny doe moves in. I debated shooting old cautious nanny but decided to wait &stick to my game plan... bucks 1st.... heard another deer coming from the pines& saw a part of an antler, thought was probably a spike. The deer cleared the pines&i could tell it had to be bigger than a spike, had a pretty good sized body. Deer finally moved from behind the trees and basically wasted no time coming into the plot coming across a dead fall to do so. Came in fast to 20 yds, grunting & completely broad side. Lined it up. Let it fly, you have figured ir the test of the story! Watched him& the nub & does run the same direction. Heard a crash &figured he was down for the count. Went less the 50 yds from double lung hit.

Thanks everyone for the congrats. I know you were all the with me on the track & such!

Congrats to Tony & everyone else who were fortunate enough to have opportunities this evening!

not what you want to hear but I lost a buck last year to a high angle shot that hit upper leg/shoulder with a Muzzy HB. I was only about 15 yards away; as he ran off into a bean field into the shadows and around the corner of woods I could see the lighted nock sticking way far out of his body and whipsawing back and forth with every step.

I found hair at impact site, kind of course around until I hit the bean field and found nothing. Walked around the corner of woods and scanned with my binos to see if I saw my nock- nothing. So I waited until morning and went back out, -0- blood. I ran into another public land hunter (complete stranger) and he helped me grid search for over 2 hours. Nothing.

That being said I hit my buck the year prior and broke both upper leg bones entry and exit with the exact same set up at almost 50 yards. No idea what happened on the closer one. He was if anything smaller than the buck the year prior and less than half the distance with the same exact set up.

    Wish you luck.

13 years ago today was the first time I ever got to go hunting since back then PA made you wait until you were 12... I was hooked from the first sit. In search of a birthday buck this morning, it’s happening today, I have yet to put my tag on a PA archery buck today that changes!!! Finishing up breakfast and heading out good luck all! Happy Halloween let’s drop some big boys today

A cart would have been impossible as he came from an area loaded with fallen trees and branches as well as super wet and mucky
