he has you trained so well....

do you realize he's intentionally screwing it up so that you stop asking him to do it? I know because was that kid!

Was just thinking about climbing down and had a 6 come by. Thinking I’ll give it a little more time this morning.

I would- should be good midday activity today.
    Good luck everyone.
I will be hunting a different sort of prey today in a different sort of environment.

Saw a few does last night. And I almost got a 10 pointer. I hit him...actually he hit me on my drive home. Ran into the side of my truck. But he'll be fine. Chasing a doe. Not much damage.
Also, studies have shown a button buck is 60% more likely to stay in the same area if his mom is shot.

The doe never kicks him out the next spring. So, I try to shoot does with button bucks. Just my opinion.

Just some misc. info I gathered this morning. Posted in my team thread, just found it interesting.

    10 days to go.

Just been reminiscing in prior contests and live from the stand threads.

I've never killed a buck before Nov 5th or after Nov. 12th aside from shotgun season and scrub freezer toppers.

The 7th and 8th seem to be my dates, and I have never shot a buck on Nov. 6th.

    2011 shot my buck Nov. 5th 9:30am

    2012 missed a 150's 10 Nov 8th 11am

    2013 shot my buck Nov 12th 2:15pm

    2014 shot my buck Nov 9th 2:20pm

    2015 shot my buck Nov 7th 12:20pm

    2016 shot my buck Nov 7th 6:30am

    2017 shot my buck Nov 8th 8:05am

Thanks for the offers on the safety harnesses!

I'm scouting a new place the next few days. Fort Pickett in southern VA. I'll start calling this place my home base come the rut. First day I've ever stepped foot on it. Found a good gun where everything comes together....and the tracks dont lie.

After seeing him on hoof he’s not mature and needs at least another year. Was fun watching him push a doe and grunting around

Exactly! We were all THAT kid! I know it's not his fault, The brain isnt developed enough yet ( in most cases) at that age to look beyond himself or tomorrow, to think of others!

    Thank
S, the moon theory is what I'm after, figure out if it applies to deer here
Thanks, the moon theory is what I'm after, to see if there is anything behind it. The day I killed my buck was predicted to be fantastic by a random one I google searched. I'm gonna see if this red moon theroy gets me a 200" next year, lol:biggrin:
Congrats to all the guys with kills, VS you hunt hard as heck and deserved that one. Dnoodles the hunt with your dad was touching and makes me wish my dad hunted.

DEM guy showed up and took him away. He said he didn't think he had Rabies or Distemper, just old sick and dying.
