I usually hunt out of small doghouse blind when my son his hunting with me. Windows are lower to the ground which makes it easier for him. I can only stand to be in it for a couple of hours. After that I go crazy

I would rather be water boarded than sit in a doghouse blind.

Got out of the woods at 11 saw nothing but the lone buck early
Currently sitting at house looking at maps and watching it rain outside

Hoping it’s a fast moving storm
Planning on going back out if it clears up

So had a crazy series of events happen this morning. I got down just after 10 am. While packing up my gear, a muzzle loader goes off up the hill from about 300 yards. I finish packing up start walking towards the shot to see if I can see who it is. Then I start hearing deer moving above me. So I slowly walk up the hill and peak over and I see a nice 10 pt just standing there staring at me at about 20 yards. I just watch him, then out of nowhere he just falls over at hits the ground hard. He's trying to keep his head up but finally lays down and I think he is dead. Then after 5 minutes he jumps to his feet and takes off at a full run. I go up and find hunter and tell him the story. Off we go to where I saw him fall. Very little blood , so I start following tracks. After about 30 minutes of pin drop blood and tracks , I found him in a bed about 75 yards away. Perfect double lung shot! That deer lived for probably 15 minutes and ran over 300 yards! Unreal animals! Sorry no pics of deer.

    Thanks everyone.
Now if only Holt would predict that I would hit the Mega Millions...

I was really hoping to hold out for a mature buck but I've been snake bit for the better part of two seasons. This guy came in right after I hung up my bow and was about to clip it to the rope to lower it down at 942. Came in right to 15 yards, spanked him with the A-Tac. It went through him so hard it buried a good foot-and-a-half into the ground. Was afraid it was going to pull my insert out extracting the arrow. He went about 120 yards all told, double lung but those A-Tacs are pretty small. Decent blood for most of it. Nice of him to pile up less than 100 yards from camp and only 15 off the trail!

Back at it this afternoon, I'm restricted to 4+ on one side now. Backstraps for dinner, boys and girls!

Hahaha if you win, I expect a little kick back! Maybe in the form of a nice Iowa farm!
