No kill for me today. Had a lone doe just out of range and bedded down for a while. Saw several in the dark on my paddle out, as well as some beavers and coons. I had actually forgotten how peaceful it is to paddle in the dark. Be back at it tomorrow afternoon

Just need to pick up a muzzleloader is all lol.

Was curious to see what the state record was for RI. Totally different hunting than us interior hunters.

So long story...but I'll shorten it up... I've been living vicariously through all of your early season hunt stories and waiting impatiently to actually get in the woods. The season finally opened here in Massachusetts on Monday (the 15th). I got my 1st doe permit for my zone this year (only took 18 years!) and I'm psyched for the extra tag (bucks don't grow big around me but I have 5 different 1-2 year olds on my cams). Then my wife decided (after being together for 15 years) that she wanted to join me in a tree so I promised her I would save my doe permit until the 1st Saturday when we could get a sitter for our kiddos and go together. Of course I get out this morning by myself (20° temp drop overnight and perfect winds) and I have this nice big doe at 18 yards (watched her feeding for over 2 hours). I'm hoping I earned some karma points today by not shooting her...happy wife, happy life, right?! 20181018_083322.jpeg

Good morning! Heading out in a minute.

I’m frying up some summer sausage that was made from last years doe. Should provide good cover scent...

Aaaaand I forgot to defrost the windshield.... brilliant!

It should be okay though, I am stooping down to the level of a muzzleloader. A deer should be guaranteed, right CLS? :)

Good luck boys. Big 3 day weekend plans to kill. Have Monday off. My parents left yesterday morning for Vegas and thought it would be a very smart fun good and intelligent idea to leave me home alone for 4 days. Lol I’ll be watching boys!

All settled in no wind for the most part the deer probably heard me coming super quiet and 26 degrees. Now the waiting game.

Finally frost. Stand is a little slippery this morning. Illuminated a few good rubs on my walk in. See if he shows up.

Good luck to all out today. I was feeling a little discouraged after my short trip to KY. Saw a few does on each of my first 2 sits, nothing on the last 2. I wake up, get in this thread, and find myself checking weather for my next trip to KY. I am encouraged again! Lol!!
