I know it's been hot and dry in NC the past week or two. How's it looking up there? If I was going to be sitting out for the NC opener tomorrow, I'd be set up near water.

Having said that, my 'back yard deer' dropped late this year and have been very active early morning (dawn) and evenings. [IMG]

Yeah I’m guessing that’s why they haven’t been hitting my mineral blocks anymore

Not any better here either. Smh. We are overcast and in the 70s this weekend and N NE winds. Would have been nice for the opener, but we are supposed to have 80s, sunny and SE winds on the 15th. So it's basically crap imo.

I still think I might go out in the morning on the 15th, and hunt closer to my car. It's usually a 4 hour recovery process from start to finish, (from death to car) from the area of the woods where I usually hunt. I'll have a cooler full of frozen 1 liter water bottles in the car just in case.

Alright finally on stand for the first sit of the year! I set up on a side of a ridge that has lots of mature oaks. Almost all the acorns are eaten the second it hits the ground. Good thing I'm wearing my rubber boots because I was wading thru deer crap the whole time! This should be a good first sit!

A wicked rain storm just came thru, but the sun stayed out the whole time. At least I cooled off a little, but still soaking wet. Look like enough rain to wash out my back trail, so I should be good if a deer comes that direction.

Tomorrow and Sunday will be good for the MD killers. Temps dropping fast. Some places near darn 30 degrees colder from Thurs to Sunday.
