Dang, wind shifted and two deer in a thicket about 50 yards away winded me and bolted. Probably the same two that were under my tree earlier. It’s early yet, but that’s a bummer.

A buddy of mine shot a small buck in archery a few years ago, hit it high and never found it but found a broken off arrow. The next year his brother shoots the same buck in rifle season and when butchering it up, finds the broadhead and 4" of arrow buried in the vertabrae of the deer. I wonder if deer are just a bunch tougher than we give them credit for? It reminds how important shot placement is and taking out the lungs is imperative to a quick, clean kill. Also makes me think about how important super-sharp broadhead are, the only thing that kills deer w/ an arrow is blood loss.

well good thing i work at an archery distributor that sells boots! heading down to our retail store on my break and probably going to pick up the muck fieldblazer 2... My current rubber boots have a hole in the bottom and a patched one on the top so this is a justified purchase!!!

I don't live close enough to any of my spots to do that during the week, but as long as I can be in the stand ready to shoot an hour and a half before en of shooting light it's worth it. But be warned if you're on public land- I've done that a time or 2 and had nasty notes put under my windshield wipers.

My response? If you hunt within 100 yards of the public land parking lot you do not have the right to get pissed if someone walks past you during whatever you consider "prime time"

    What is a parking lot?

I do my best to avoid those areas.

Yesterday was my first sit and I failed to pack my socks and was not wearing any so.. The only thing that sucks worse than forgetting your socks and wearing rubber boots is trying to get said rubber boots off your sweaty feet..
