too many tornados to get out. I guess one hit close to my house someplace. hoping to get out Thursday.

saskatch, that deer is dead! kick a little snow around on the trails to turn up any blood. he will stay on the trail until he finds a soft edge in the brush to enter. he is likely to crawl under some brush to die. he will be hard to see.

Any update Saskatchewan? I know what it feels like when the trail goes cold, but I feel like your buck is down somewheres. Keep at it man!

Two of us spent 3 hrs grid searching and walking trails looking for any sign of blood or deer but couldn’t find anything ...

That’s disheartening, those are some brutal conditions you had with fresh snow and then it all melting, but don’t give up yet. He’s out there somewhere!

As more seasons pass by and more deer go unrecovered, I'm growing skeptical of the "broken shaft length equals penetration depth" rationale.

If an arrow shaft breaks at the surface it should have atleast edge of penetration blood, but usually nothing. If the deer flops it could land on the nock and flex snap the shaft. If it takes off on a straight out sprint carbon arrows can snap from impact on a tree.

wait- how the hell do they test hair for alcohol? That is metabolized by your liver within hours.
I'm calling BS on that....but easy way around it is to shave your head. Not saying that you should drink if you're underage; I'm just saying... not like you plan on being a Supreme Court Justice or anything....

So far I’ve had a deer or two under my stand. They hung around for about 20 mins and wandered off just before it was bright enough to shoot. I’ve got a good feeling about this morning.
