Hey guys, I'm unfamiliar with this type of shot. Should I give him time? How much. Should I push him?
How low was the shot and what did he act like afterward ? Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
If you suspect one lung I'd wait 1 to 2 hrs to get down then just ease out of there. Come back in a few more hours after that. Nice and slow. Unless your arrow tells you different..... Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
Now that I've had time to calm down and think, it wasn't so much low as it was right. He was hard quartering right. I know the shot went in behind the right front leg and a little low. At the shot he kicked and took off like a bat out of hell.
did it pass through? if it did his chest cavity should drain. give him time. post a pic of the arrow if you can find it close by.
You may have caught the heart,I'd wait a while like Virginiashadow said and then take a look at the arrow and decide from there. No reason to bump him you have plenty of time. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
if he did the mule kick and sprinted off you made a good shot. probably didn't go far. I would wait erring on the side of caution.
I would give it a few more minutes and check your arrow. at that point either leave or wait. the arrow will tell the next move.
I'm pretty angry with myself right now. I KNOW to lean out to clear the climber. Guess I just got excited and forgot. I've hunted way too hard since 2 September to do something stupid and blow it.
don't beat yourself up yet. you may be surprised at what the arrow has to show. stay positive. your just going through the what if moment. if he reacted like you said it isn't over.
